    Where to for Moore

I like bulldog, he has good skills, great footy instincts and he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty....
But it appears he's got a chronic ankle problem (that's according to Roos), he has a limited endurance and he's slow. With the game now being more explosive and fast from beginning to end, he may struggle. I hope not. Thoughts?

Play him in the center, Greg Williams didn't have a lot of leg speed. Quick hands and good foot skills.

I believe that he would make an excellent Center.

I haven't heard Roos talk about Moore's ankle problem other than to note he has one. Did he say it was chronic or just persistant?

I'll try and find the article Liz but to back up the OP Roos stated that Moores ankle problem was persistant and that it was likely to be an ongoing problem rather than just a short term injury.

?[Moore] had another roll of the ankle on the weekend so we just want to try him again in the seconds. It?s a thing that?s permanent rather than a thing that?s going to be fixed,? Roos said.

He would, except for his lack of a big motor. Major problem in todays footy.

Even fully fit he is barely in our best 22. I would rather play Rohan, Jetta, Bird etc over him.

From what I've heard ankles can be a bit like shoulders in that once they go a few times, they have a tendency to keep being troublesome. That said I think there's a place for Jarred in our team, especially with a few of our hard, not particularly fast, midfielders heading towards the end of their career. If he needs a bit of time off the field to prolong his career, I think we are ok without him for a good part if not all of the season. However I hope that we hang on to him because I reckon he is a pretty decent AFL footballer...

I'm a fan. Natural and clever footballer but agree with Ernie, he's in trouble for the reasons mentioned. In our best 22 at his best IMO.

i dont think moore is good enough to play in the midfield ahead of others in the side, and i dont think he is good enough to keep veszpremi, mcglynn etc out as a small forward. I think he could be good trade bait if fit
Theres not much left to say

i like moore's well waited passes into the forward line but it seems like he just doesnt get the pill enough, is a bit slow and doesnt have the endurance required.
Like others have mentioned mcglynn, rohan, vez and maybe even TDL should be ahead of him in the forward line due to superior output or potential and jetta, bird, hanners, kennedy, smith are ahead of him in the midfield (assuming he can even play there due to lack of endurance).
its a bit unfortunate because i like him but i dont really see a future.

He's a very clever player, a great balance of skills, smarts and strength, but obviously lacks height, speed and endurance. Those flaws alone, he's still a good, potentially great player, but add in the ankle, and he's up against it, not just because of the injury itself, but it will limit his ability to improve on his speed and endurance. To be honest, I'd like to see him spend some time in the coaches box. If he's forced to retire through the ankle, it might be a job for him. He seems like a leader, as evidenced by his being elevated to the leadership group at the end of 08, and he is by all reports highly intelligent. He was the organiser of the junior club guernseys idea. Might have what it takes.

That said, we have no idea how bad the ankle situation is. It might be permanent but only bothers him when he's unlucky enough to roll an ankle or something. It might have a big impact on his career, it might be negligible. At the moment though, he's definitely in our best 22.

                            Agree completely.

Not that I'm trying to offload guys to the new franchises, but he would be a pretty good fit as a leader at one of the new clubs if he finds he is struggling to break into our best 22 in the coming year or two. Obviously intelligent and was voted into the leadership group a year or two back at a very young age, obvious testament to the respect of his character and footy nous.

I love having him in the team, I really do, but I fear for his place in modern football; it's struck down the very best before.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
