    Soft Swans, Soft Coach

I for one am sick to death of going to ANZ Stadium to see us play so soft footy against the Pies. FFS, what's with all the crap the players were talking about all week about how serious they were taking this game. We are soft.... soft.... soft... and Roos, it didn't help as a supporter watching you on the boundary line smiling as if it didn't matter.

Did you just realise. I'd get Roos to leave NOW. Premiership was 5 years ago now. Out coached by every other coach in the top 8.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Not a good look. Save the smirks for training and press conferences.

Agree the footy we served up tonight was ordinary but before you go accusing Roos of being a soft coach... you guys need to see Roos' spray at quarter time - I taped the Fifth Quarter and it's as violent as I've ever seen him in seven years of coaching. He was waving around a piece of paper and Goodes seemed to be one of his main targets. He has an easygoing demeanour in front of the cameras but behind closed doors I would not want to cross him.

And the incident when he was smiling on the boundary line in the last quarter was a coach's sarcasm more than anything - in the seconds leading up to it he was yelling instructions at the players and visibly angry, and the smile was one of frustration that the message wasn't getting across to the player(s) in question.

Having seen that, I'm not so sure Longmire is Head Coach now and Roos is his 2IC until years end.

Mind you, he was pretty relaxed when it was apparrant the game was over. I didn't see him before that.

Roos is too relaxed for my liking and gets away with it because he is in Sydney. Comon when are we going to win a game against a top 8 team?

Clearly the players aren't listening anymore. How many times has he blown up at the players during a Swans vs Pies game? Has it ever changed the result???

Oh and it certinaly doesn't help instill his message when he is on the boundary line and on the big screen laughing as if it doesn't matter what is really happening on the scoreboard. Seeing him on the big screen laughing tonight really pissed me off. Made me think I wanted him gone this round.

He hasn't used the spray that often, but I totally agree that the message isn't getting across as in previous years - I think that's part of the reason why he's finishing up at the end of the year, because he knows it's time for a change. You have to be an exceptional coach to be able to keep the message fresh - and while he is a very good coach, the likes of Malthouse and Sheedy (when still coaching) are probably a cut above because of their longevity. Doesn't make it any less frustrating when the players don't stick to the game plan though.

I'm glad I came home to be told about that spray and to see it on the replay. He reacted the way I felt. It certainly seems that he can't lift the team any more but I'd say our defeat tonight was 20% coaching and 80% effort. God we were soft and disinterested.

I saw him laughing in Q4 through my binoculars and then realised he was joking about a Swans player who was so vague that he couldn't work out he'd been called to the bench. What do the Pies put in the Swan's orange juice?

His quarter-time spray was as angry as I've ever seen any coach .
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

On GameDay they showed Paul being angrier than I'v ever seen him before. The paper throwing was done with very angry intencity.

With regard to the laughing, it showed Roos get angry at a player coming off, Bevan then ran past, Roos did his best impersonation of someone with the lights on and nobody home routine, with reference to Bevan. He then turned to the assistant next to him and laughed whilst shaking his head. It was a laugh of hopelessness and NOT because he didn't care about the result.

Bevan should be dumped now and Moore brought back.

I think its a shame that was caught on film. Shows a lack of respect for the player, very poor form IMO. Maybe it really is time he went.

I realized that it was clearly just delirium, but it certainly wasn't well received by the people in the area I was sitting on based on the murmuring that went on after it was popped up on the big screen.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Very unfortunate and out of character too
