    Finals gone. What's next?

We just lifted the Tigers off the bottom of the ladder. And we don't have a defensive game if the best we can do is put Mal in there. So what's next?

Give Braddy and B2 a send off - get Kirk to train the kids, tell B1 to keep playing like that till the rest of the team care, too?

I think Pike and Mummy are in the team long term.

Play the kids like TDL and see if they lift or break?

Put Horse in charge and Roos back in the box?

The tiges have lifted themselves off the bottom of the ladder by some excellent performances.
We should continue what we are doing which is get experience and game time into our youngsters.

Finals gone? Can't be out of finals contention when we're still in the 8.

What makes you think Horse will do anything differently? He's been under Roos for 7 seasons now, and the succession plan was Roos's. I have said before and will say again ...I'm underwhelmed and suss of the succession plan. Lets just hope it's not same ol, same ol. Going by Roos's 'Eade like' rants lately, it seems some players have stopped listening. Much the same as happened with Eade in his last year. A fresh voice with a fresh approach (as Roos was in 02/03) can often bring a new energy and enthusiasm. Hopefully Horse can some how convince the players it's a new era and a fresh start. Given his history at the club I'm not sure how.

Silly thread - we are still in the 8 and finals are not gone. Beaten by a better team today and although the performance was disappointing and it was a game we should have won, I'm not gonna go and slit my wrists just yet....

Okay - next games are North, Blues, Melbourne, Cats, Hawks, Freo and Lions. On today's performance, which of those games would you pencil in as a win? The Dees really took it to the Saints for most of the game today so I certainly wouldn't have that as a win. The rest I'd expect to be hard contests and we don't seem to have the heart to win those these days.

We still have a chance to make the top 8 but would last only one week.

Perhaps the players don't have as much to fear this year knowing that there won't be any maqjor changes over the next few years because of retiring players and new team drafts.

Well Cats, Hawks, Freo and Dogs (you missed that one) will be losses. Will hit Lions in last game of season with Brown and Fevola back, probably they have built some momentum by then so I would say 50/50.

If we win the next three, it will only be 10 wins for the season, no cigar. If we win next 3 and beat LIons, we will at least have to beat one of the first four teams that I think we will lose to.

                    Not looking good.

I recon 10 will get us in. North, Dees and Lions will be wins. Alot can happen in 7 weeks, and if we can get the dogs at home it will be win win going into the finals. I'd prefer to be playing than not (surely we cant take playing finals for granted even though we have had a charmed run over the past few years). God today hurt us though.

Wouldn't think Hawks at SCG would be marked as a certain loss. They are just coming into a run of tough games and things may be very different in a month.

I'd be pretty shocked if Horse didn't shake things up a fair bit next year, he will want to make his mark, just as Roos did after he was Eade's Assistant Coach. Longmire is only human, I am sure there are times where he has to bite his tongue or be involved in a plan that he feels doesn't quite hit the mark.

Hopefully there is a bit of a change in the overall coaching staff, we need some tactical innovation and reinvention, we just feel and look so predictable.

Sigh, this week is beyond a must win, if we don't win I'll agree with the title of the thread. We wont beat Geelong, Freo, Hawthorn and probably not Carlton, so we have to beat North, Melbourne and Brisbane, then hope and pray for some results to go our way.

Yes I missed the Doggies - either the fridge magnet or my mind had blacked it out.

I think we'll do well if we win two of the next three games and then we can expect to lose the next four games before facing the Lions. The Lions will come into that game after games against the Dees, Eagles, Crows and Bombers so could easily have won four on the trot.

I'm feeling quite black tonight but I think we'll be lucky to win three more games this year.

Since when did we last beat the Dogs at home? Without doing research I can't remember but I think it was about the same time we beat the mugpies.
