    Eski in the back pocket

If the coaching staff are going to continue to have him play on an opponent that will see him on/near the goal line, can someone PLEASE teach the guy how to spoil? Cost us two goals by his total and utter incompetence on the defensive side of the game.

Yes, he isn't in the team for his defensive skills, but if he is going to spend time deep in defence and defending, something needs to be done about the simple defensive skill. Otherwise coaching staff, make changes that see him away from there (oh and don't give me the Mattner was off the field excuse either).

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

defensive skills non existent. Put on wing and hf is he cant defend. His kicking short is also deplorable.

Does that include the pathetic effort in the first qr? If not, make it three.

I assume it was Richmond who kept dragging him back to the goal square so full credit to Hardwick.

Half of our backline can't defend - Malceski, Shaw and Kennelly. Mattner isn't much better.

I don't think mal is a defender full stop. He can't spoil and is far too easily beaten. He has such a penetrating kick going forward that surely we should look to play him on the wing? But as you say Hammo, Richmond were excellent at dragging him back- so much that Roos even put Mal up front for a while in the 3rd quarter.

His defensive deficiencies are well known. However, you would expect him to break even with someone like Collins who's playing as a defensive forward.
