Are Richmond making a late run for ninth?

It's an even-numbered year, so we have a good chance of one of two things happening: Richmond finishing ninth, or Richmond finishing last. Up until round nine, Richmond were looking good for the spoon because they were sitting last with a poor percentage and a perfect 0-9 record.

But since then, something strange has happened. Richmond have started winning. They have won four out of their last five games and have lifted themselves off the bottom of the ladder for the first time since round one. Now they sit three games and percentage off ninth spot. Can they do it? Can they climb to ninth and keep up their reputation of being Ninthmond?

A small bit of trivia regarding Richmond: They have finished ninth several times since 1994, but they have never finished ninth in an odd-numbered year. Not since they joined the VFL in 1908. Not even when they were in the VFA. Not once. The Ninthmond phenomenon is only confined to even-numbered years.

Well, it may end up being the Crows after a really good win against the Cats last night. Crows will be knocking on the the door of the final eight although like North they are a win and percentage outside.
