Drew Petrie being persisted with despite hobbling about with half a foot working in the 2nd Qtr. Bloody stupid. I could hardly watch it to see him come back on and he could barely move. Was the North bench in that much trouble they had to keep him on?
Something I don't like to see....

Stupid? Yes.
The same as Jude wobbling around after being knocked out twice? Probably.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

The medical staff are to blame in this instance if you believe what Brad Scott said in his post match press conference.
He said they declared him right, so Petrie went back on. As soon as it became apparent they were wrong, Scott took him off again.

from Scott defends playing PetrieObviously we wouldn't risk him if it was going to do any damage in the second half, but the medical guys were pretty confident he could go out and play full forward and when it became evident to me and probably everyone at the ground he just wasn't right we took him off.
The commentators hypothesised that the injury may have been such that he couldn't do any further damage and that with a 'shot' he could play out the game but not the rest of the season."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." You can always do further damage - even if not to the foot then to every other part of your body that's working to compensate. Old-school mentality and very poor stewardship. He was moving like he had ski boots on.from Scott defends playing Petrie

That's the quote I read, but as I said, I didn't see the game (only heard it) to make a judgement on how bad he actually was. Fact he's now gone for the year suggests someone needs their arse kicked.Obviously we wouldn't risk him if it was going to do any damage in the second half, but the medical guys were pretty confident he could go out and play full forward and when it became evident to me and probably everyone at the ground he just wasn't right we took him off."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

He repeated this last night on the Foxtel AFL Insider programme last night. He couldn't do any more injury so they zapped him and on he went. Till the zap ran out.from Scott defends playing Petrie

I would have thought if the pain was numbed then the body wouldn't have to compensate for the injury. Once the pain came back then he could not go on.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

Not convinced of that but let's say you're right - still only holds IF the pain was gone. And since when have footballers been able to be relied on to come off as soon as they feel something wrong? He sure has a funny-looking running style for a man not feeling any pain. Like I said, very poor stewardship.Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment
