    The Return of Tadhg Kennelly

You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Nice to hear Tadhg feels back to his best physically; we have lacked the run and carry in critical games.
But i wonder how many of the Swans' games the writer has watched:
Both are like new recruits, with Kennelly playing in Ireland last year and Malceski severely hampered by a knee injury. Both gained 34 possessions in what Kennelly agrees was his best game for the season. It has left Malceski leading Sydney's possession count and probably the club's best and fairest.
Mal's had some good games, but I'd be surprised if he is on top of the B&F.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Yeh, that caught me a little off guard as well. Having a very good year but I'd be surprised if that was the case. Still, it's not like anyone is dominating.

Who would be in front of Mal? Not ROK, not Jude, Not Goodes, probably not Mcveigh, If Mal's not leading then i can only think of Mummy, who's missed two games

I reckon the top three would be Eski, Jude and one of LRT or Grundy, but I can't decide which.

which says everything about our season.

and its not because (grundy excepted) any of them have improved much.

I think Mal will go very close to winning it.

Even though his bad games have been awful, Goodesy would probably still be in the top ten for B&F.
I mean, when we were/are winning he is generally having a great gameand would poll very well, but I agree with the general sentiment that the Eski would probably be in front.
Jack has also been very consistent this year and I reckon the coaches would love the way Kennedy has been playing. Hanners has probably been like Goodes, his good games are really good but his bad ones can be quite poor (actually more quiet than poor).
Reg and LRT would have to be going well in the B&F too.

Back to the thread, Kennelly's composure down back has been great in the absence of B2. Not as much run as in the past, he leaves that to Eski/Mattner/Shaw, but his kicking has been great.

i don't want to be a bit down after watching us win well - but tadgh is getting out-positioned a bit too easily for mine - twice yesterday he was in front of his man and chose not to attack the ball (I suspect for fear of getting the body contact and being knocked out of the contest) and both times his opponent went straight to the ball and he finished behind on both occasions - its easy to be picky but he does look slower and more vulnerable when played one out than in the past.

That's becuase he can't defend. He's great when we're winning and attacking, but cringe worthy when it comes to bread and butter defending.

that there hasnt been a single one of our "stars" who has been up and going. but instead its a softish hbf with a great kick, a great in and under with limited kicking and two stoppers.

if it was because any one of those 4 had played above themselves it might be different

fwiw on a points per match basis mcglynn has got to be killing it
