I only watched the first half and the worst thing about today's performance was the "I give up" attitude of the coach at quarter time. Your career might be heading to an end and your reputation might be assured but it is not the way to respond to a team of youngsters. Go now Paul - your endeavour is lacking. What ever happened to the spirit of the bloods (or was it only ever bull@@@@)?
The most disappointing thing about today

Give it a rest ROK, you are stating to look like a fool.
The game was dead as a contest by quarter time, the players on mass from the start didn't turn up to play today and no matter how much ranting and raving might have been applied at quarter time (by Roos or the other coaches) it was never going to change the result from that point onwards.
DST"Looking forward to a rebuilt, new, fast and exciting Swans model in 2010"

After the obsessive focus on Bailey's loving attention to his players and Stynes (sorry but even I found myself calling for a bucket after the continual crosses to hear Jim) our coach could have been Nelson Mandela and still would have looked like a lemon-sucking loser. What would you say to your team after a 50 point smashing in Q1?
What you would do is change your match-ups. Done! Didn't make a difference.Comment

The players generally sucked, but the coaching staff appeared to generally suck as well. I don't really get why people think it's a problem to focus on that.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

The most disappointing thing for me was the fact that we all know the Swans lack leg speed though we continue to play tired old players. We took nothing out of this game from the previous match except maybe seeing the pace of Jetta for the future. We've hardly played any youngsters like Vez, Currie, Johnston, O'Dwyer, Heath, TDL etc. all of which should be getting multiple games.
To me it's all about winning the flag down the track there doesn't seem to be enough emphasis on that and only what well known names seem to look good in the team selection on paper week to week.
This season is shot we are not likely to beat most teams we meet in the next few weeks and in the finals it's time to play some kids.
Someone on RWO said what if we play the kids and we get thrashed........well we played the experienced players and we got smashed by MelbourneComment

total hindsight statement. perhaps now it is time to put some of the older players out to pasture and blood the younger players in the hope of generating a spark or at least giving them some experience in games that count but up until this afternoon things were looking okay and playing the experienced players was the right option.then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment

The game was won by Melbourne in the first 30 seconds.
I wasted an arvo watching the rest.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I can give Roos a break for today - I don't think any of us saw a result like that coming after we played our best footy of the year in the first half last week - but I agree that we need to salvage some pride in the last few weeks of the season to set a good example for the youngsters who will be the core of our team in the years to come. I know he'll be gone in a few weeks but while Roos is still head coach he's still responsible for motivating the side, for the sake of the younger players in the team as much as his own legacy.
We need to go into next week's game with the same attitude we took into the games against the Cats and Saints at home towards the end of last year. We have worked so hard to earn the respect of the footballing world over the past few years - other teams talk about how we are always a tough side to play and how we are a hardened finals team - I would hate for this respect to be thrown away.Comment

Genuis to chump in a week. The pundits were lauding him for reinventing Goodes last week by playing him on the ball: mindboggling.
A week's a long time in footy Roosey and so are the 14 weeks it took to move him.Comment
