Geelong wouldn't have beaten the Melbourne team that showed up yesterday... and we sucked.
The most disappointing thing about today

People want to know the 'Real' difference between Paul Roos of (2003-2006) to Paul Roos (2007-present)....absolutely nothing.
The difference is with the rest of the coaches in the AFL, they've finally caught up.
Roos has pioneered/changed this game so much in his short time as coach, that the other AFL coached have done nothing new and just followed his lead. They're all now doing the same things that he pioneered 7 years ago, the only difference is, they have better cattle on the park than us and thus are getting better results.
He hasnt gone backwards at all. As I said earlier, the others have 'FINALLY' caught up.Comment

It's tough to stay ahead of the game for so long, which is why new coaches need to bring new ideas, not mimic others.10100111001 ;-)Comment

This is just one example LG. I'm talking about the whole 'Man mangement' thing.Comment

The interesting thing is that the management plan has been tried by a couple of league teams and failed miserably. It seems that, for whatever reason, empowering players to make decisions doesn't work in the NRL.10100111001 ;-)Comment

odd that because in 2003 i reckon we played the fastest footy going around that year. But we built a team around contested footy. The game is not about contests anymore. At least not in the way it was when a player could hold the ball in a tackle and not get pinged. now they can kick it but because it was only a short kick or a miskick they can get pinged.Comment

The most disappointing thing for me was the fact that we all know the Swans lack leg speed though we continue to play tired old players. We took nothing out of this game from the previous match except maybe seeing the pace of Jetta for the future. We've hardly played any youngsters like Vez, Currie, Johnston, O'Dwyer, Heath, TDL etc. all of which should be getting multiple games.
To me it's all about winning the flag down the track there doesn't seem to be enough emphasis on that and only what well known names seem to look good in the team selection on paper week to week.
This season is shot we are not likely to beat most teams we meet in the next few weeks and in the finals it's time to play some kids.
Someone on RWO said what if we play the kids and we get thrashed........well we played the experienced players and we got smashed by Melbourne
How therefore, does your "play the kids" mantra actually apply?Comment

[QUOTE=Jewels;498647]May i just ask where you posted these amazing feats of clairvoyancy? I looked but couldn't find the one where you predicted we'd be beaten let alone as comprehensibly as we were.
I guess you'll just have to trust me but I could get those who I discussed that with offline - but I also made a small profit from the game due to the ridiculous overs that were available on the game (as I did the week before because of the same overs available in the carlton game)
On the other hand, lest it be thought that I am a financial wizard, I lost plenty against richmond which I never predicted - in fact I was on the swans on the line in that game

fwiw I thought you could put a reasonable line through melbourne into fremantle, collingwood, and i thought carlton were just terrible - they played us essentially without a forward line
and the dermott brereton line that teams often start the following week as they finish the previous week suggested we might be in trouble.Comment
