I sort of agree with you but whats the answer ? In the pre draft and salary cap days the rich clubs ruled the roost. We rarely got a look in. And I don't consider finishing 8th and getting flogged in the first final a good year either.

I agree with you. When the Dees and Tigers are polishing the silverware we can say that the system of cycling through really works.

Bizarrely, after some inspired drafting last year, if we'd kept just a few players: Braddy, LRT, B2, Bird, Smith, Seaby, available for a few more games then we could be pushing for Top 4 and would be hoping Freo and the Dogs would remain less than rock solid on the run home. Three games have really cost us the season - the Hawks, Tigers and Dees. So saying we are a crap team is like saying the Hawks were crap last year (and half of this) after their previous Premiership. Yes we need depth and have to improve on that but we're not the Weagles. More vitally, we're not the Lions. Remember pre-season when the Swans would finish about 12-14 this year and the Lions would be pushing for a Premiership with their brilliant recruiting?

It must have been about 2003 when the Swans could regularly snatch defeat from victory as if they didn't care (a bit like the Cats played 2006 and started 2007). Then the Swans developed self belief with a new coach and some unlikely wins came with that until the wins weren't so unlikely. That lead to a Premiership. Similarly, the Cats got hammered in 2007 and decided that wasn't acceptable. Last weekend we saw the absolutely unacceptable loss. This weekend may show how close we are to the turnaround in attitude we need to be a decent team in 2011. Effectively, that's what Roos has done by not changing the team - he's effectively saying "show us that the Dees game is not who you are". It may not work but it's worth a try.

I'm not disappointed with the season. Injuries do that to a team and the most important thing now is to get senior experience for the younger guys.

Good to see that Rossy Lyons has his boys showing that if it's good enough for the Swans to go down out of the 8, then it's good enough for them.

The bottom teams R faster, more skilled & younger than us! We need to bottom out to be better! All AFL teams need to do this! Roos's saying that Sydney can't afford to do this is a furfey! He is only protecting the coaching staff & the problem with that is we don't get a premiership for the next 20 years. We might sit in the middle of the ladder & possibly in the top 8 or even 4 but never Premiers. Remember that Grand Final against the Roos & how we were never expected to win & we didn't. The expectations of Swans fans is so low & I used to follow the Hawks cos my brother did & before that when I was a kid in Broken Hill I followed Richmond in the 60's & early '70's. The attitude at both those clubs was take no prisoners & win at all costs, John Kennedy once said "Winning is the only reason you play the game & if it isn't then you should give it up and play tiddly winks". Kennedy managed to win 2 premierships with sides that were not as big on talent as their opposition but much more dedicated to winning much like our last premiership side.

We can argue all day about "Bloods Spirit" and clever recruiting but we won't win Premierships without genuine A Grade players. At this present point in time we have one, Goodsy. Hanners, Rohan ,Smith and Mummy all have potential to be A Graders in the future but thats about it. The only way we will get more potential A Graders is through the draft. Its very unlikely we will ever" buy" another like Mummy again. I'm not trying to negative just realistic.

                    Which draft do you suggest?
