I have been thinking the same thing of late, not to say that Paul is a bad coach per se (well, it's not relevant for this point!) but I do think he's clutching at straws a bit of late. To suggest that you can't swing the axe because the guys in the magoos aren't trying hard enough is a bit of a laugh, to me.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Will be known as a players coach who won us flag though couldn't move with the times.

It is going to be interesting what he says if we get flogged this week. Shaw is a liability at the moment & can't seem to get dropped. according to a couple of people I know Rohan is playing quite well in the reserves. There are others who are putting in week in week out but don't get a mention in despatches by Roos ie; Reid! roos's game plan is past history (strangle them & hope they @@@@@@ up & flood way back) look how good that worked for Carlton! We are playing the Hawks this week & they r going to be pissed off at losing last week. Look what happened in Hobart after a draw a 76 pt thumping. Don't blame your young players Roosy, blame yourself for not getting players like Leo Barry, Micky O, Paul Kelly etc around the club to instil that Blood spirit into the youngsters. Don't be a poor tradie & blame your tools Roosy look at developing the right attitude via club legends & ex-players like Leo & Co. These lads are just developing & looking for guidance & maybe some of the people you hired as Coaching Staff aren't doing the job the right way. It is not up to the youth to independently develop the right attitude it is up to your staff to instil the right attitude into them and help them to develop it. it makes me angry to hear a once very player oriented coach turning on the future of the football club & blaming them for his own deficiencies. Maybe you are too old & staid to coach at this level & even though Leigh Matthews is oldere than you he at least seems to appreciate young talent & how to develop it. I also forget you never really developed anyone did you, that's right Rocket developed them & you made them better.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to Paul as the guy is a legend but blaming the reserve players for not doing what they are told and giving that as a reason for non selection is pathetic. Stop trying to regiment brash young men who CAN play into a boring stereotype mould that is now outdated and surpassed by other teams.Just give them a game for @@@@ sake! Obviously they will learn far more effectively by playing because the coaches havent been able to get them to learn all season.

If the senior team is playing to instruction I'd like to know what the instructions are. All the key defensive stats for the modern game - tackles, tackles in forward 50, oppn goals from rebounds - we rank just about at the bottom of the AFL. (I can't locate the stats anywhere but it was a point of discussion on Fox recently). There doesn't seem to be any accountability for seniors players yet the reserves are slammed publicly for their effort.

There is a premium placed on 'triers' at the club even though their skills make them average AFL players. It may have worked in 2005, it won't win flags in the future unless the AFL suddenly decides to slow the game down to 1990 levels.

Roos will be disappointed he can't do some wheeling and dealing in trade week - Currie for Josh Fraser, Vespremi for Chad Cornes etc.

agree a repeat of Eade. we will be short of players next year, he drops them after one of 2 games. Look at PV played alright against Port but was dropped the next week. BM played poorly last week but he wasnt on his own ,played Ok the previous games. The kids havent earnt brownie points. Roosey should go now.

As soon as I read this I stopped taking your post seriously. Rohan played his first game in the ressies for 3 weeks last Saturday due to injury. He was short of a gallop and it showed in that match so I would stop taking advice from 'people you know'.

By the way, are you Terry Wallace?

With the contiued selection of hard-at-it but 'dumb' footballers like Richards, Bevan and Shaw, if I was Vesprimi or Currie I would be very tempted to see what other opportunities are available. Because there does not appear to be may opportunities here.

That's my MASSIVE problem with what he said. Really disapointed with how things are shaping up at the moment, very much time for a new coach (I'll still believe that even if we get over the Hawks this week)

I actually can see his point. I mean, aren't we all frustrated with some of the players at present? And am I frustrated with some of the ressies players wondering why they aren't belting down the door? yes...... I may be the one out here, and I don't care, but I am with Roos.

I'm just puzzled why such an article would make it onto the Swans website. Doesn't seem to fit with most of the propaganda on there. It might have worked to fire a few boys up with 10 rounds to go, but I dont see the use of it now. It just makes Roosey seem like an irritated guy watching the days till he's finished and out of here, which I hope isn't the case.

From my reserves watching last week I didn't see a lack of effort from too many guys. Rohan and Heath looked a bit short of a run, and TDL deserves the call-up, but some of the others didnt seem too far off senior selection. Maybe they didn't run the right lines or something. Just seems odd to me....
