Poll: If we get a home final, where should it be played?

Using the AFL predictor thingo, unless we beat the Doggies this week it seems likely that our home final chances come down to the Freo-Carlton game in rd 22. Freo wins and we make it - Carlton win and it comes down to % between Freo and us. Bit sad that two teams that we've beaten will determine our destiny like that but heck even making the finals is a nice surprise.

There's a simple solution to that . . .

IF we get a home final and it is against Carlton, it undoubtedly would be at Homebush and also well attended.

If however it is against Freo, I reckon the AFL could do both us and themselves a huge favour by playing it at the SCG. I fear it could be a Norf '08 scenario if at Homebush, but at least 35K would front up for a SCG final against Freo, maybe more.

I'd like to know what the contractual agreements with Homebush are, but I guess contracts can be bent, after all, it suited Homebush to punt us to the SCG for the Geelong semi in '05 because it didn't suit them due to a clash with the thugby.

All I know is that I read an article stating that the AFL had started conversations with ANZ regarding possible finals matches this year. I would love to think that the AFL has had the same conversations with the SCG! For mine, it looks as thought they would lean to ANZ which would be a travesty. As people have stated, having a home final is a treasured thing. You would want to play it at the SCG so it is a 'home' final. ANZ may as well be neutral ground for all I care. Sure the majority of Fans would be Sydney ones but I doubt any team fears playing at Homebush.

That sucks if it is.

Anyway, having said that, doing those ladder predictor things, it looks very likely we will playing Hawthorn in the first week elimination final in Sydney. Not too bad, I know we can beat them, but I'd much rather play the Blues, in Melb or in Sydney. The one thing I'm hoping doesnt happen is us having to travel back to Perth to face Freo again....only this time in an Elimination Final.

Announced on 'One week at a time' last night, if we do get a home final, it will be at Homebush....no if's or but's about it.
