Yee haa!! Given his brilliant performance yesterday I hope the club threw a few extra pennies into the contract.

And for anyone else like me who missed this news:

"Team-mates Kieren Jack and Heath Grundy have also recently signed three year deals with the Club."

Easily the best 19yo I've seen at the club. Great news. If he works on his kicking, he'll be some player.

It's going to be a close one. You can barely split he and Scully.
          Great to see he's re-signed.

He should get the nod over Scully.

Hanners has now had 2 games where he was a bona fide contender for BOG. Of course one was on Saturday, the other was a no-brainer BOG against Norf down in Melb.

There are some strong contenders for sure, but I don't believe any of them have actually been BOG in a game this year.

How does it work? does a committee just get together at the end of the year and decide based on the nominees?

If there is voting each week, I'd suggest that Scully would lose votes to Trengove and even Gysberts.

                    That's exactly how it works.
Pretty much have a committee that selects their top 5 nominated players for the season, giving them points from 5 for the best, to 1 for the 5th best.
then they total them and see who has the most points.

Can't remember how many people are on the committee, but I'm pretty sure Kevin Bartlett is one of them.

He was suggesting CJK was Tom Swift.

I think he has more, at least where he was contender for best Swan on ground. The first Hawks game, for example, and even the loss against Freo at the SCG. He was also one of the few who could hold their heads up after the Dees debacle, and there have been plenty more games where he was clearly in the Swans' best half dozen.

He was one of the best players against the Crows wasn't he?

Great news on the signing, I never doubted it.

He's been in the Swan's best on many occasions, but to stand out and make a claim for Rising Star honours, you need BOG efforts to grab the committee attention.

My point was he has those BOG efforts where guys like Dustin Martin may have been best or near best for Richmond in some games, but whilst he is a mighty impressive individual, he hasn't had the BOG efforts that Hanners has. Nor has Scully.

Interesting to see how far down the list NicNat finishes.

He may well turn out the best of the bunch, but at this stage Hanners, Scully, Martin, Trengove and Morabito should all finish in front of him at this point in time. Even a Bastinac would have claims to have had a better year.

I think Martin is ineligible or he would probably be favourite

I think his biggest challenger is Rockliff, but playing in a losing side (only became a regular after Brisbane started their slide) will work against him.
