I don't have the stats in front of me but I suspect most games in Melbourne featuring interstate teams against the locals are on Friday and Saturday night. It means that the travellers have t stay a night in town and there are Govt incentives for that for the AFL.

I say that in hope as the missus has organised my son's 6th birthday party for saturday arvo Sept 4. The only way I will miss our first round final will be if it is on Saturday arvo or if by some chance we have to travel to Perth.

It would be awesome for the Swans to get that far, I will have to record and avoid hearing the result.
You think you got it bad, my cousin had her wedding on grand final day, 2005.

I sent my wife to the wedding, and I hopped on a plane to Melbourne!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

At least it was worth the family scorn, imagine if it had been 06!

I'm usually prepared to back my memory of the games themselves all the way, but as for the day of the week they are played on, not so sure.

I usually just go with 'Fri or Sat' for night games and 'Sat or Sun' with day games if asked. Seems to have got me by OK.

I avoid arguments about the Anzac day clash ...lol

Getting back from overseas on the Friday for the finals. Unfortunately I have a Sat night function so here's to the final being in one of the other time slots!

I don't think you will need to worry about setting a video on preliminary finals night.
