    Kirky and The Fifteen Captains

Hi all - I don't buy newspapers, and the article wasn't internetted as far as I can see. Has anyone got an idea on how I can get to read what the Captains of the other clubs said about Kirky? Any link or scan would help. Many thanks.....

Sorry about the title! This electronic beast won't let me used the word "said"!!!!!

        Thanks Ugg.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

            Thirded.

However, it reads like one of those stupid oversized cards you get when you leave your job where people who don't actually know you offer cheap sentiments. Looking at you Riewoldt.

Thanks ugg - how on earth do you do that? I started having a quick look, found nothing, thought I'd come back later and try again. But Papua New Guinea (I assume)!
Anyway, nice piece. We assume (rightly) that he is held in the highest regard by his peers, but it's always nice to see them say so.
I particularly warmed to Darren Glass' laconic understatement.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

It really does look like an oversized cya later card. How I hate them.

As for Riewoldt. Total GERM. What is with the knob who thinks its appropriate to give someone a serve when they are on the ground unconscious, knocked out after courageously backing into a pack.

Does read like a "So you're Leaving" Card.

Agree. There's always one signature / comment on those cards from somebody you can't quite recall. (James McDonald I'm thinking.)
I do also love the obligatory: "wish you all the best in your future career / retirement" and the "you will be missed" clich?s (Riewoldt - classic). Little bit disappointed too that this graphic doesn't have the standard "fluffy animals crying" on the page.

Would've loved a snippet from Hird following the Irish trip when Kirky "tagged" him all night.

                            Big sloppy kiss ugg.

In addition to the above unknown wrestle with Hird, during the IR's some years back when it was being played in Aust, and Jacko was goal keeper (who could forget that big lug swinging his arms like an animated paddlepop), when Mrs Kirky gave him permission to fob off from their honeymoon (I kid you not, that woman is a legend) and join the boys in Perth for the beginning of the series, he had a few ginger beers and having been egged on, shadowed/minded/tagged Bucks at a pub or nightclub, and didn't give him an inch. Stuff of legends. Bucks still laughs about it.

Not only is Kirky responsible for the bloods culture. He's also fathered the love of wrestling that is any first year players favourite pastime.
