Troy Selwood on the Meat Market

3pm today Voss confirmed he would delist Troy Selwood, aged 26, at the end of the year after six years and seventy five games for the club. Article on AFL.com

What I don't understand is why publicly announce now he will be dropped into the PSD? Why not try to trade for him? Surely West Coast (Adam (b.1984 - twin) and Scott (b.1990)) and Geelong (Joel (b.1988)) would like to reunite him with his brothers, and when he's not injured the guy can play. Giving him up for free is lunacy if you can get a draft pick for him. Any thoughts?

I think you're onto something with "Giving him up for free is lunacy if you can get a draft pick for him." But it's Voss the genius who dumped Bradshaw without a second thought or a polite heads up, so no surprises there. Smarts, consideration, loyalty... not his fortes.

        We should take him.
        Couldn't hurt.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Gee surely Brisbane could of waited until he was out of hospital to give him the news.

I wouldn't want him though. The only Selwood who is any good IMO is Joel, the rest are very average.

Apparently Voss told him a week before the game.

Sure it could. Another flanker without top of the line skills or pace? We have enough thank you.

Maybe the backend of Fevola's contract will start to work against them in 2011. They seem to telling players who can play not to expect a pay rise. Know it all Voss maybe feeling the pinch somewhat.
