I presume this is a reference to the fact that other teams have injuries too....but none of them can even come close to losing 6 of their most important 10 players for most of the season....Bradshaw, Bolton, LRT, Seaby, McGlynn and Smith. Then we've had "normal" injury runs with the like of ROK, Jude, Bulldog out or badly affected by injury...youngsters like Meredith and Currie and Johnstone and Rohan having injuries...not to mention Hank retiring...and Mumford inappropriately suspended and now out for at least a couple of games.

Last time I checked Collingwood had 3 players on the injury list and not one of them was in the best 22.....so a miracle effort by us so far.

Actually taking it all into account and putting a positive spin on it - because we have had so many injuries, shows what a terrific bunch our back up boys are because we have still made the 8. Just think , we have been with out LRT, Bradshaw, Seaby , Bolton etc for quite some time, so we have had to adapt and as a result we have gone further than anyone thought in such circumstances. Our reserve stocks have stood up and done the job, but also have gained the invaluable experience at a senior level that otherwise they would not have had. The other clubs who's senior players have lasted the distance all year, are at a greater risk of injury, and their kids waiting in the wings, wont have had a chance to get the feel of the team during the H & a season - they would, if injuries were to occur, be thrown in at the deep end ie the finals.

So I hope that the lads there now last the distance and if they exceed our expectations then thats a bonus..

I was more thinking bottom 8 sides, but I don't think we are the most unfortuante. Look at Adelaide and Brisbane for example. We have had a really tough run, tougher than the past 10 years possibly. Either way I'm just proud of the boys.

I do. If you look at both Adelaide and Brisbanes injuries, yes they have lost some key players, but just compare it to ours and more pertinently, when we lost ours. Bolton rd 5, Bradshaw rd 9, Seaby rd 6 - our spine was gone before the half way mark of the season.
When looking through that injury list, Eagles are the only team close, losing both Kerr and Glass before the mid season break.

Cant agree more, I dont think any other team in the comp has had the amount of injuries we have to key players, by all rights the team could of just struggled through the year and got to around 8-10 wins with all these injuries but to get to a most likely 5th is a fantastic effort.

Brisbane have had drummond and charman out for most if not all the year, they had maguire a key back in and out all year. Brown and Fevola 2 of their top 5 players struggle at best for 3/4 of the year. Realistly they have had power and black from their top 5-6 players. This is besides their own suspension issues and players missing that i'm ignorant of, much like opposition supporters would be of smith, bird and co.

I'm Switzerland this week but still have a warm glow from Saturday night's game. I burned and watched it on the flight again.

We are going to have so much depth next year. So the injuries may have worked in our favour as so many have stepped up. Next year Horse seriously has to pick the team each week between a good experienced player and good kid with finals experience. We weren't going to win the flag this year but anything could happen next.

Richards has stepped up admirably in the last couple of weeks, but we would certainly be missing LRT against any twin towers. Luckily enough, most of our likely finals opponents don't rely too much on super-tall forwards. Carlton, well, Grundy can take Waite, Richards can handle Henderson. Geelong, Grundy can handle Pods, Richards can handle Mooney. St. Kilda, well, Grundy matches up with Riewoldt, and unless Kozi has one of his rare blinders (you can never quite predict them), Richards should be able to control him. The Doggies have Hall and not much else. We proved the other day we could handle the Dogs forward line without LRT. Collingwood, well, Trav and Dawes are solid enough KPF forward options, and I dare say Dawes will develop into a gun in the future, but as it stands, Grundy and Richards in current form would own them (the rest of the match-ups, on the other hand.... ).

Really, if we had to pick a set of potential opponents to face in the finals without LRT, we could scarcely have done a better job. Even Hawthorn's Roughead is out of form. We got lucky with our bad luck.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Have you watched any of his games in 2010? He had a great year. In his last game against the Roos he marked half their forward 50 entries.

2005 was a long time ago, but his 2009-2010 form is the best of his career

You haven't missed him because Richards has been able to step up and fill his spot

Actually i prefer teddy ok..i am his number one fan..plus does one mark make up for times when his disposale was terrible..IMO..he is the scariest player in AFL..so tired of ppl saying he did this..he did that...i rate a player on his last match performance not frm weeks/months/years ago just as yr boss would judge you on yr daily performances not last years

And yes i either attend or watch each and every game including travelling interstate ok except WA..
