    Hanners Rising Star 2010?

According to Sportsbet, it's a sure thing - had my bet on him paid out today ... thanks for the $200!

I am also confused - I got an email from them today which said ...

What a fantastic year Daniel Hannebery has had in the 2010 AFL Season. After a quiet debut in 2009, Hannebery has come into his own, showing great depth of talent, and played a vital role in the Sydney Swans run to the finals this year.
Why wait any longer for Rising Star awards - Daniel has it in the bag? So, in the spirit of giving member's their cash we have decided to payout early on all single bets placed on Daniel Hannebery for the AFL Rising Star award - multibets will be credited as a winning leg.

What happens if he doesn't actually win?

The bookies did pay out on a Tiges wooden spoon a few months back. Apparently they make so much money they don't mind throwing some away at times. Being a punter must be a tough gig.

The agencies have made a fortune - guaranteed. Nic Nat, Martin, Scully, Trengove, Morabito, Hurley, Yarran - they would have taken SERIOUS money on all those kids early on.

Until he gets through this game tonight unscathed (aka no MRPs) I won't be predicting anything

It's a done deal. The only player that was close was Martin and he is ineligible. Hanners has it sewed up. They've already done the photo shoot for him : )

Sometimes bookies pay out early on a result but they offer a discounted return to the punter, so the punter still wins but not as much but then the punter has a certain return with no further risk. I wondered if it was that type of arrangement.
It still seems strange especially if the settlement has been made at full odds.

Maybe that's why he's pulled out
