Once again a coach gets it in the neck because of poor player performance.

I cannot believe how bad clubs and their boards treat the coaches they put in place previously. It is very sad and most humans do not treat dogs they way afl clubs treat their coaches.
I feel for Knights and the treatment he has received at their hands.
      Love those Swans

Always dangerous replacing a legend at a club that expects a lot. He needed to finish strongly this to keep the gong, too much supporter and sponsor pressure I'd suggest.

Feel bad for Knights, but I've watched a fair bit of the Dons in the past few years and they are one trick ponies and weak as piss under pressure. I don't like seeing coaches sacked, but in Essendon's case, it was the only option I think. The real problem I have here Essendon....How dumb were they in resigning a coach 18 months into their FIRST EVER contract, effectively giving him 5 years?

Had no choice as they have gone backwards over the 3 years with Knights in charge. Mind you it shows the stupidity of management who extended his contract early after 2 mediocre years. Mind you his list hardly sends you a thrill when you cast your eye over it

I reckon they should sack whoever voted for Knights over Hardwick.
Now that was a bad decision......

Totally agree. I love their free-runnning footy and I feel sorry for Knights, but he shouldn't have been given that contract. I hope that whoever recommended re-signing him is sacked.

The clumsy way Essendon dumped Sheedy and then hired, re-signed and were forced to sack Knights shows you what a second-rate outfit it is.

I think Essendon are expecting miracles. Even JC would have had trouble getting better results with the current group. Glad for Knights that he will get a substantial payout. The trouble with being a successful club such as Essendon is that you just don't know how to handle failure. No matter how hard you try you can't always be a success because everyone else is trying as well.

Willo has put his hand up for the role (bless him).
