A very sad day for the Tuck family.
His dad is still one of the most respected at the Hawthorn club.
A lesson to all that glamour and fame are fleeting and you have to have more than a football profile to have a happy life.
I wish him well in his Rehab and hope he finds a new direction. -
There's obviously a lot more to this tragic story. I don't think anyone should take any joy out of the trivial matter of the third strike... but wait for the usual leaguie types to come out and accuse the AFL of being soft on drugs."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I have less sympathy for him now to be honest. His first two strikes were under testing systems that resulted in confidential counselling and rehab not readily available to the general public. I hope he gets his life in order, but the AFL world owes him nothing.Comment

I was interested to read Malthouse request they the AFL revisit who is informed of the first and second strikes. I would imagine the success of someone struggling with this may might need more support than that anonymously provided by counsellors.
Whatever happens it's a shame to see a young kid make poor choices.Comment

It's very sad, especially after so much attention has been given to the Cuz saga, for Tuck's case to have slipped through the cracks, as it were. The Hawks have a fair point that the club should be informed after the 'first strike'. When someone is an addict they will go to all lengths to avoid getting caught, including hiding it from the very people in the club who could have helped him, so not surprising that nobody knew. He is obviously in a pretty bad headspace right now, and the Hawks are rightly going to support him through this.Comment
