Training - FINALS FEVER GRIPS THE CITY

About 20 ardent fans (or about a tenth of what the Pies would get to a Mon night H&A training session if there were a blizzard) made it to the SCG. Anyone else make it?

It was a tad dull tbh (who knew they still did circle work? I don't feel so old after all) but I guess they're not going to do much in an open training session.

All the crocks were out (LRT, B2, Bird, Seaby etc) doing handball drills and the like. Bradshaw joined the main group. BREAKING NEWS: Mummy says his knee is "getting there". Yeh, I don't know what that means either. Braddles looked a bit proppy but obviously not done for the season yet. Told me he's bound for Canberra this weekend - hope it goes well, whatever the condition of his knees, his hands are still awesome.

As I was leaving, Maxfield was doing a contested drill with Vez and perhaps Sumner, that was grueling and Patty was obviously struggling. Not sure what was up there...

Anyway, a pretty relaxed session, they'll no doubt get more dinkum on Friday.

Are you going Friday? If so will you supply another report?

To be fair if you lived in a trailer and was on the dole you would probably grab your sister (aka wife) and head off to Pies training for something to do.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Won't be an open session and the likes of me won't be welcome with my tough hard-hitting questions.

I popped in for a wee while, and met another RWOer there too (SidSwan).

Wasn't a long session and nothing illuminating. Good to see Benny Mac running around with them. No sign of Dan the Man - hope he wasn't skiving off somewhere...

I was there ... yeah not a lot to report but interesting none the less!!

Dan the man was in Melbourne to collect his award in person ...

Reserves players were being slaughtered by Maxfield - pretty good to watch!!

Great to see a few of the kids that attended training receive a treat when Maxfield invited them onto the SCG for a kick.

I went to training last week as well and Pat Vez got a huge workout then too.

I'd have to say that the open training session was very hard to find, and certainly wasn't a case of 'following the crowd'! How low-key compared to Victoria, I saw a lot of the players at lunch-time too, they must love the way they can wander around pretty much un-recognised up here.

Sydney is not really an AFL city so that may contribute to the lack of interest in training sessions. But for a Swans fan, it is a great opportunity to see the team in a more relaxed environment than game day.

It was good fun to watch. Especially Bulldog, who should be Bullfrog - his voice really travels.

Asked Benny "not to do that again", and I actually got a smile - its not looking pretty people, his face is still swollen and the eye looks like crap. If I was a doctor I would not be allowing him anywhere near the state of play, and if I was his mother there would BE NO WAY I would.

LRT is a lovely bloke, he approached the kids for a chat, they didn't have to get his attention.
Braddy is looking happy, and said he was getting better all the time, he isn't limping as much.
                    Tadgh just looks happy.
Frosty and MykePyke were going kick to kick, Frosty has lost nothing.
The blokes are competitive all the time.
Stuey was flogging the ressies, and beating them.....lesson time I think.
Mark Seaby was up and away, and should put in a good preseason, his ankle didn't seem to be too much of a problem. However he has to have shanks like Jetts, skinny as.
Uncle was making the most of his evasive skills.
JettSTAR (as they called him) looks 12.
A couple of staff were listening to Hanners speach on a mobile, and after a while we got the giggles because it went on and on and on and on........typical apparently. ChitChat in action.

Poor Vez - yesterday was his 21st Birthday. Nothing like getting caned at training to celebrate such milestones! Ha!

Strewth, maybe that's what it was all about - "We know you're gonna misbehave at your 21st, so we're gonna give you your punishment in advance!"

Exactly. Maxfield probably thought - 'If we screw him up that bad today he won't feel like doing anything when he gets home tonight'.

Like childbirth, 21st birthdays should not occur during the footy season - and especially not during the finals.

Maybe he was reminding Ves he was 21, and just how hard you have to work to become a "natural footy player". Talent is not enough
