All this comes at no surprise, we've been written off EVERY year for about the past 10 years by the melbourne media down here. Robert Walls still takes the cake for me with the way he went on in 2005 and boy was it good to prove him wrong! I have never taken him seriously with anything that he says since. Billy Brownless....pfft just a geelong buffoon, take what he says with a grain of salt, he would of still been spewin with what happened to the cats in the finals against us in 05, hence writing us off in 06.

      lol!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Not really, because he didn't have Collingwood, Geelong, the Dogs or Saints (or Freo) as teams that can't improve. The main focus seemed to be the sides that "everyone" assumes are on the rise and will be challenging in a couple of years - like the Dees, Blues, Tigers, Roos. I think the point was that it shouldn't be assumed that all these teams will be on the up next season. The Swans (and arguably the Blues) were almost in there as throwaways.

It wasn't really clear what the point of the "segment" was, so brief and shallow was the dsicussion. But then it is hard to see the point of many of the segments on both AFL 360 and AFL Insider is. Fox seem to have tried to beef up their midweek AFL content but both shows come across as very lightweight.

Not a patch on White Line Fever. RIP Clynton Grybas.

Spot on. The reality is that no Non-Victorian team will ever be considered as a well-established championship side (not even the Eagles a few years ago). In some people's minds we are all still Johnny-come-latelies, despite the rich heritage of teams such as South Melb, Fitzroy etc.

You can feel the vibe coming from Victoria, even up here - a gloating that the top four sides are all Victorian. So many times I have heard the view that anyone else in the finals has no hope of the Premiership, although last week there was a shimmer of fear that the Hawks might pull off an upset - of course another Vic team.

I'm actually over the attitude of the media in Melbourne, and now just accept it as part of the scene. I suppose it adds a bit of colour/controversy, and we all enjoy whinging about it. When it is combined with the non-reporting of AFL in the Sydney media, you have to just shrug your shoulders, and relish the moments when our boys prove them wrong.

Not true - next year we could win the NAB Cup, the minor premiership, and the GF, with Sam Reid winning the Rising Star, Kizza taking out the Brownlow, and Hanners getting the Norm Smith. Then they'd probably say - "The Sydney Swans have had some freakish luck this year with their boring, lock-down style of footy and Geelong, Collingwood, etc., have been really unlucky with injuries. After this, their premiership window is well and truly closed."

Anyway, I'm kind of relieved. I was getting a bit concerned that the love coming our way was going to but the hoodoo on us.

Whatever happened to that 'report' the Victorians ordered after they're beloved local teams failed to make a GF a few years on a row?

That just shows you how far the media in Victoria's heads are up there arse's, they are talking about Geelong being the best team of the decade but for my mind you can't go past Brisbane I mean three flags in a row and it could have easily been four.

Yes that was a great time - wasn't it also ALL "interstate" teams in the top 4. During that period we should have pushed to relocate the GF for a few years. Maybe to ANZ stadium with a big video screen at the SCG to handle the overflow.
