If Freo win, the game is at Etihad, and I really rate Freo's chances there compared to where they ALWAYS play Geelong - at Skilled.

Watching it again on Ch 7 now I reckon Chapman's slip in the centre with about 2 1/2 minutes left cost Geelong the game.

Great result for our mighty Bloods! I might be slightly drunk after a big night out, but that is the best result for us. Maybe our premiership window might just open a year early. No doubt though in my mind, if the boys want it enough there is a real chance for a grand final appearance this year. I know my wallet doesn't want it, but carn the MIGHTY SWANNNIES!!!!

I hate the Saints with a passion but the Cats are such cocky so and so's, it's great to see them get done - pretty good result for us too.
Even Thomspon was having a bit of a whinge about it in his press conference. It looked like a blantant ITB free to me, far more blatant than most of the frees Geelong got in front of goal in the final quarter.

How bad was Selwood's game - I'd love to see the stat on effective kicks, he hardly got his hands on it and when he did he buuuutchered it.

I think Ablett had a fair point, he had broken the tackle before the ball slipped out of his hands. You can't get done for dropping the ball if you aren't being tackled.

As for Mooney, it was 100% every day of the week in the back, I can't believe they have the audacity to complain. On top of that, how can Mooney not be sanctioned for his outbursts to the ump???

That annoyes me more than anything, very wrong the way Mooney was addressing the ump. He should have gotten 50 IMO considering Goodsey had 50 paid against him in the Hawks (?) game for wiggling his finger at the ump.

That free was there for Mooney and I secretly enjoy watching him have a bit of a sook but the emotions would have been high and he knew it cost them.
Thought Varcoe was very harshly punished for the HTB (or was it incorrect disposal?) in an earlier passage of play. He hadn't even taken possession of the ball and was tackled. Was a stupid handball choice but still thought that was a bit ordinary on the umps. They seemed to also have been very inconsistent when calling play on.
Gablett is a huge sook. Needs to get over himself.

Yeah, the way he was shaking his head as he walked off, it was a "we were robbed" shake not a "we let that one go" shake.

I think it was an ITB too, the ump called it without hesitation.

Sucked in Geelong. Can't believe they had a whinge about that decision, that sort of thing gets paid all of the time. It's a @@@@ rule but it is a rule.

Joel Selwood gets half a dozen free kicks a game from that sort of thing. Whenever he is tackled from behind he drops his knees and falls forward so he gets pushed in the pack, and when he is tackled from the front or the side he does the same so he gets caught high.

                          Karma.

Was watching and said to Mrs Dr J, "I bet Saints win with the benefit of a controversial free kick".

I thought it was play on, only because I believe Gwilt was already falling as Mooney tackled, but so be it. Agree Mooney should have copped a 50metre.

Oh well, if we get there, I'm going to enjoy putting them out in a prelim final again. If we don't I'm sure the Dogs will.

There was absolutely nothing controversial about the free kick though. By the letter of the law, it's a free kick.
