    Trent Dennis Lane

How good is this bloke? Tackle of the year followed by a goal at an almost impossibly tight angle that was to win us the game. Four goals in total. This man is a champion developing before our very eyes.

To judge where we are at in our development, I always compare the current side to the 2005 side which we know was "premiership material".

Our defense is ok, our midfield maybe stronger, but our forward line is way down on the likes of Oloughlan, fully-fit ROK, Hall, and Nick Davis.

Every team needs a sharp shooter Nick Davis type, and TDL could be our new "Nick Davis".

What a great pickup. He gets the job done week in week out.

Love him! He has the forward 'nous' and knows where to plonk himself to at least be in a contest. Shooting accuracy a very pleasant surprise too...pressure on from the boundary and just dobs it through the middle.

Looking like a great long term future for TDL!

He also layed some excellent tackles today, seems to be growing in confidence every week. Certainly a different boy than the nervous little fellow we saw in his first game.

I said it elsewhere - a god in the making. As with our other young 'uns, I am now nervous and have to check up if we've got him signed past the Gold Coast/GWS looting years!

              Cruiser ,

Spot on - this was the lad I singled out before the first bounce to be a crucial contributor.
              He delivered , big time.

And , CMIIAW , he's the first Burmese bloke to kick a goal in finals football :-)

And there is one thing he does that some of the other developing players should note...
As he runs away from a contest, he glances rapidly left and then rapidly right, to make sure there is not an opponent closing on him. he is very rarely caught HTB. He's a serious talent.

I hope to be watching him in ten years from now - on consecutive games. Massive talent and super mature - like Dan and Nick, after his first nervous week he just belongs in the team.

He is not a Micky O as I don't think he has the absolute 'magic' streak in him, but he does a lot with the ball when he gets it, and is clearly a very fine kick for goal under pressure. A class young player, and he will develop into a sensational player with time, and will hopefully be that sharpshooter goalkicker we have not had since Nick Davis found the endearing flavours of KFC too hard resist.

The kid is not much to look at... not overly tall or big. Not particularly quick. But gee he is a NATURAL FORWARD. The way he can find space in the F50 is a class above anyone at the club, apart from maybe Braddy. Plus when he gets the ball, he makes it count too. Has a nice, uncomplicated run-up and can kick it straight.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Maj was great in traffic but TDL's ability at finding space inside 50 is already the best of any Swans player. Rare footy smarts.

He's all class. He won us the game today with that tackle and goal in the 4th quarter. His spot in the side is guaranteed as long as he wants it if he plays like that.

He's not quick compared to Jetta but he's got enough pace to get the job done. Armfield, who he chased down, has a lot of toe and he caught he with ease. But regardless of speed, a bloke that can find space, has a strong set of hands and can kick straight is gonna go OK in any forward line.

I am still shaking my head after today's escape from the jaws of defeat and this bloke was instumental if not signficantly responsible for prising open those jaws and jamming the bloody stick right where it was needed. I am in serious love with this guy, in a kind of mother-son sort of way. The moment when he kicked that rediculously stupid goal was just sublime, ala Nick Davis 2005. Unreal, just unreal. And the kid plays for us!!!
