I'm strangely calm for some unknown reason. Maybe because getting this far is an amazing effort for a team on the rebuild that any great result now is a lovely bonus.

I did have the same feeling before the 05 prelim so hopefully that's an omen.

I'll use my first ever post to do some community service by lowering the blood pressure of all the pessimists out there.

It's been mentioned we haven't beaten them in 23 years in Melbourne. Well in 2005 we hadn't won a grand final in 72 years, it didn't stop us then. Next to that a 23 year drought doesn't seem so bad. In those 23 years I doubt we have ever played them when they have been as injured and in as much poor form as they are now.

It's also been mentioned that the #5/#8 team rarely beat the #4 team. Let's face it, the Bulldogs are a top 4 team in name only, of the two teams we are the ones who are playing like a top 4 team. Across the entire season they only had 1 win more than us, counting last week we have had the exact same number of wins. And of the two teams who do you think is more likely to finish in the top 4 next season?

I'm 100% certain we will win. I will be surprised if it's even close. We would have beaten Carlton by 6 goals if it wasn't for a man named Judd, and the Bulldogs have nobody like him. We also have 2 key players coming back that weren't there last week.

        We'll win by 30.

Okay, we might as well get all the hoodoos out in the open:

          • We've only played the Bulldogs twice at the MCG, both have been finals and both have been losses.
          • It's been well stated in the media that only 2 out of 20 semifinals has been won by the lower ranked team. What they haven't mentioned is that this occurred both in the Second Semi Final. The Bulldogs-Swans game is the First Semi-Final and the winner of all 10 of those has been the higher ranked team.

That will just raise the blood pressure because losing a game you should win worries people more than losing a game where you weren't favourites.

            Love your optimism though.

I have to agree - I havent felt this nervous or excited about finals since '05 - '06 didnt even have the same effect.

I find myself thinking constantly of planning for Grandfinal weekend, ticket to game, people to avoid accomodation, travel, party in carpark - that kind of thing - it is just taking up all of my thoughts!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Bradshaw to kick 6 in the first half, TDL to kick 6 for the second half.

I'm tirn. I'm worried that we'll fall short tomorrow. And I'm worried that I promised to bring the bottle of Grange if the Swannies are playing in the Grand Final. I never thought that possibility would be just two games away!

I'd suggest you get yourself down to Dan murphys and head to the Grange aisle, just so as you get used to it!!! It only needs to be one bottle (we made the last one go a long way) and we go cheaper for the rest! A promise is a promise!!!

Not many people know this, however, the Swans have not beaten the Doggies in Melbourne since 1987. Over that period of time the doggies have played the Swans 19 times in Melbourne ( the closest they came was a draw in 1991) Hopefully the streak continues

Looking at the specific games of that 23 year drought doesn't make it look as bad. While it's true that we haven't won there in 23 years, you can also say we've lost just once in the last 12 years.

I dreamt last night that we won by 2 points with Hanners missing everything from a set shot in the pocket on the siren.
