    Thornton Delisted or Retiring

I was watching the AFL MVP awards and in the retirement video kristin thornton was shown in the video. I hadnt heard anything about him getting delisted or calling it quits. Anyone else know anything more about it.

The Melbournians probably just think he's Henry Playfair.

Much in the vein of Mark McVeigh, Heath Shaw and Leroy Jetta, I assume they are referring to Scott Thornton of Freo who has announced his retirement.

Except it is sad. We can't even just blame this on lazy, ignorant journalists and commentators if it happened at the AFLPA's own function. Surely someone would have twigged that the colour of the guernsey was wrong, even if they think players from non-Vic clubs are essentially interchangeable.

I haven't seen it, but Freo have played in South Fremantle colours in heritage rounds which are identical to the old Sth melbourne jumpers. Could it have been Scott in one of those jumpers, or definately Kristin?

It was Kristin in a Swans jumper

Odds that he has a new nickname around the club already? I imagine it'll be either Scott or Docker.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yep i think you're right which is a shame as he has shown he has the talent to mix it with the big boys at AFL level, but his body doesn't seem to be durable enough

That's hysterical - I did a double take when I saw his name there but presumed I just hadn't seen the announcement. That's like putting your obituary up at the Oscars when you're sitting in the crowd.

Leroy Jetta? I'm glad someone mentioned it as I thought I was going crazy when I heard it.
