EDIT: We arrived just in time at the venue (Lara and Phil's place) with baskets of sandies; just made it. that's why I didn't see it.

I was also incensed by the fleeting mention that we were actually playing on Saturday night; according to them only the Dogs are playing at the MCG on Saturday night. So much for "expert" opinion on that One programme last night (I can't be bothered to look up the name, they ignored us, I can ignore them).

In our corner is the fact that noone seems to have noticed that we are fifth on the ladder. And that Hawthorn has been knocked out. And Carlton.

My Blood is boiling. the lack of respect, the lack of acknowledgement of our existence over the last few weeks is just plain insulting.

So I implore and behest all of the Bloods to show them up, do your best, be ready, and unleash hell for me. I am taking this very personally.
Sam Newman always puts us down, but last night he stated we were hopeless at the MCG. Has he forgotten we won a GF and just lost a 2nd one at the MCG.

They must have been the years he was dodging angry women in cars so he was probably a bit distracted.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

In fairness, those games were four and five years ago. Our recent form at ther MCG has been pretty bad. One game in the last ten or something (don't quote me on that)?? With that one game being Richmond last year.

Stay away swansrob, don't bring cool logic into this discussion; red faced fury and indignation is the go.

I'm getting so nervous, we are playing a team we should beat which would give us a game against a team we are due to beat (and I just know we can)....

Who cares what the media says? As long as the team has confidence in themselves and each other, then they will give it a good shake.

Here's as good a thread as anywhere to provide some statistical light relief. I've been harpin' on a bit about 5-8 sides' dire 2/20 (now 2/21) record in week 2 of finals against 1-4 sides. But a lot of this is surely because of sheer ladder disparity showing a significant difference in class, e.g. tonight being 2nd vs 6th.

That story doesn't generally apply when it's 4th v 5th. In the current finals system, amazingly 4th has only played 5th 3 times. (Most years, either 4th has beaten 1st, or 8th has beaten 5th, in the 1st week of the finals.)

And sure, sadly the 5th-ranked team is still waiting for its first win. But with losing margins of 11 points (2001), 33 points (2007) and 5 points (2009), we're clearly around the mark, and due to notch up our first win. Let's do it tonight.
