How Swans fans broke Hall's heart

Interesting article about Hall's relationship with the club (swans) and especially the supporters.

Agree with him 100%. More of a watching fan than a stalking fan, but after reading that felt like writing Barry my own letter offering support and thanking him for his efforts at the Swans....after the final of course.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Ideal time tonight to show the appreciation he deserves, he gave us so many good and unforgetable memorys. But tonight i hope he pulls a hammy in the warm up. But i still like him.

I felt the reverse to you, Bloody Hell when reading that article. I am not into booing ex-players and have been quite vocal about it (although in a written sense obviously) on these boards, but Hall's gripe made me think he could just cram it with walnuts.

Of course Hall would be welcomed back at the Swans - but it was not as if it was at a club function or something - he was playing for another team. He should wait until his career ends to look for some sort of positive reunion. Yes, it was sad that he left (or was forced to go), but what other options were there? He wasn't performing consistently the way we'd like, neither were the team - his time was up. Good luck to him and the Dogs, but not tonight.

I was at the round 21 game and didnt hear any swans supporters abusing him, just booing of course when he was lining up for goal. I must of been sitting in the wrong area of the ground. Id like to know what he means by 'there are circumstances here'?

I don't mind booing ex-players who left voluntarily.

The intensity and regularity which Hall was being booed was off the charts. Nothing like that for Jolly, who deserves it.

To be honest, it reminded me of a jilted lover. Made the crowd look very unclassy.

I think (and hope) that he will return to ther club after his playing days. I think he will be an excellent forward coach. Hopefully the Swans faithful don't shoot themselves in the foot.

Poor little Barry even the kiddies were abusing him. What a load of crap.

Had to laugh about Biffo saying we were as bad as collingwood supporters.

Don't get me wrong, I have a big soft spot for Barry, I just thought the article was a big whine.Of course people jeered, he was playing for the opposition, I didn't hear any abuse though, the "Barry Hall Chorus Line" in the O'Reilly Stand was pretty funny though.

We shouldn't forget what Barry did at Sydney just like he shouldn't expect favours from us when he's wearing another jumper. Traitor is a bit unfair though, when Barry left it was the best thing for everyones interest so I don't agree with anti Barry sentiment he is just another very good opposition player. I for one have been glad to see him play well this year except the day they beat us at Manuka oval

I like the last bit that he says about not being prepared to be a punching bag for everybody. For years now his opponent can do almost anything to Barry but as soon as he retaliates its a free and as soon as he asks a question its 50. Hope the umpires continue to give him nothing tonight and hope he has a good game in a losing side.

Saying we are like Collingwood supporters is below the belt.. Now that we know he doesn't like to be booed lets go for it.. It reminds me of when Aker called Crouchy a "Serial Pest".. It is just letting the opposition know they are getting to you..

This news paper article has to be some kind of propaganda for Dogs fans, surely???? I guess the news papers, through baz, are not content with writing off or ignoring the "shut down-negative-ugly football-lucky to have won a grand final" swans all the time. Do they really think that to sell a few more papers to Victorians they now have to demonize swans fans and turn us into the filthy feral, uncouth, uncivilised, mean spirited barbarians of the north who get their children to do their dirty work? Fair dinkum the Melbourne press are lousy sportsmen and poor loosers.

In my experience Swans fans from north AND south of the border are probably the most positive, easy going, forgiving and amiable fans of ANY football code in Australia. Think off the treatment Baz would have received from the crowd if he had left Collingwood, west coast or the CANTERBURY Bulldogs. I bet baz copped it worse from fans when he left St Kilda.

Geez, I hope we win tonight so we can finally put an end to all this Bulldogs, Brad Johnson, Akermanis, Hall, Eade hype, fluff and puffery in the media!

I heard plenty of abuse. I expected some booing when he got a touch or was lining up for goal but to be honest, I was surprised and disappointed by the intensity and level of abuse. He did give a lot to the team over the years, even if things ended badly.
