Yes, excellent article. Considered, and shows the respect due.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

          Tears are blurring my vision.

          Fanks Roosey.
          Fanks Kirky.

I sincerely hope that the club do you both proud by keeping the culture that makes a player "a blood".

From an interview with Goodesy ....

Now that Kirky is gone, do you feel a responsibility to maintain the culture?
Definitely, it is my role to help drive that culture and what we started eight years ago under Roosy. I will be looking forward to getting back in eight weeks.

I?m disappointed I?m not involved in the next two weeks of footy because that is what you play for but I?ll be back on the first day of pre-season, driving our culture, driving the boys.

The game of footy we play at the Swans, it holds up. We know it does, if we all chip in and put in, we can win as many games as we want to win.

Will much change under John ?Horse? Longmire?

Horse will have his different techniques but the core values of the football club, the behaviours will be the same. The game plan might change a little bit but the core values will still be there and that is what drives us at the football club.
          Missed chance will drive players

          We're in safe hands.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Thanks Kirky on behalf of myself and my sons, for your leadership and qualities as a true "Blood".

A hard goodbye for all who support the Red and White. I am so grateful to have been eye witness to the football career of these two Swans' champions and greats.

Hey, a bit off topic but.... A while ago someone wrote a really good tribute to Kirky, it was on the home page for a while I think and was quite long but a great read. Does anyone have the link or know where I could find it?

Think that was Alison - jst went to go and find it but can't seem to locate it - even via a couple of backdoor methods. May need to wait for the Maestro (aka Scott).

Someone asked me to repost this here...

A long, long time ago the Swans sent a few players to a small primary school on Sydney's northern beaches to show the kids the game. A few big guns showed. Kelly and Crouchy spring to mind, both were terrific with the youngsters. (the next weekend was the game at the SCG when Kel did his knee, and was never the same again).
But the guy who got all the mums' heads turning, had kids eating out of his hand and smiled and chatted his way through the whole afternoon was a young rookie I didn't even know. Mrs Royboy decided he was going to be her project player and has followed his career avidly ever since; in fact, has just about taken sole responsibility for discovering him. The story has got more and more vivid as the years roll on.
Good onya Kirky..your whole career has been golden. You're a credit to your family and to your club!

I know this is being pedantic, but didn't PK do his knee in mid-1998, while Kirk rejoined the list for the start of the 1999 season as a rookie?

Liz, you are wrecking a good story with details, which a good story teller never bothers with (witness Caroline Wilson).
Anyway wasn't Kirky doing pinch hitting with the club for the 3 years previous to 1999??

Liz, I'm going to stick to my memory...then I'll check...I know sometimes you tell a story so often that it becomes true, but I'm pretty sure of this one. Regardless, the Kirk part is exactly as it happened.
