Living proof that there is so much more to being even an average footy player than physical attributes.

Nothing personal, but I can't see how a new club is going to change that.

I know one thing, if he finds another club, there will be article after article in the pre-season how he is burning up the track and breaking long standing records in all the running disciplines. The fans will be beside themselves with anticipation.

By the time the Ansett Cup (? Annie) finishes, we will be inundated with trolls abusing us for offloading a dud.

Maybe we could trade him to the Commonwealth games team. I recon Steve Hooker would make a great FF. Massive leap on him but I dunno if they would let the pole on the field.

My time for tears is edging closer it seems. I was so hoping Ed could get it together this year but there is little hope now of him making it at the Swans, at least.

When he wasn't among the early delistings I wondered if there was a club interested in him. Perhaps he will be a better fit for a team with a different game plan????

He has been on the rough end a bit, eg someone like Jets can get away with not being keen to tackle etc. and has not been labelled as soft. And while a lack of the footy smarts may be Ed's big weak point, again Jesse White seems to be surviving okay with a similar problem.

i reckon the Ressies watchers would know best whether Ed is worth some other team persevering further with.

Ed will go the same way that Gerrard Bennet did, and others of similar physical attributes before him. Who knows he may just crack a senior game for his local club Tathra.

I just see no upside with the boy. Jets can and will improve his tackiling, and can bomb away accurately at goal from 60m. White has showin glimpses, and can get better. Barlow has had his chance and has shown... nothing. 26 games in 4 years, including 14 in 2009, and nothing memorable or salivating at all about them speaks volumes. Maybe it's a communication thing, or a game plan thing, or something else that can be rectified at another club, but the guy's had his chance and I won't be perturbed if he goes.

Though if someone's interested enough to trade for him, I say milk them for everything they got

Bit unfair on Gerrard! He was ok, he tried but he just couldn't get better.

I hope we are not maligning Cheese. Perhaps there has been a very very good reason why he and we just didn't gell. But i guess we have been just on the edge of the blocks for so long, something had to give.

He was brilliant in that debut game at the Gabba, to the extent that some people were saying he was "the white Adam Goodes". What happened with this guy? Is it something about the Swans he doesn't like? Or is he just not interested in playing at senior level? It's a great pity, that's for sure.

Hopefully he's done something at Uni or picked up other skills as I don't think he has the drive to become an AFL footballer. I think he was one Roosy was referring to a month or so ago. Not everyone will make it as an AFL player, and some probably decide they don't want to after a few years, so I hope he's got other strings to his bow....

Yeah, but Jetta still has potential on his size. Young and only in his first season.

Jesse is huge and wont get any smaller. Still getting time to develop.

I'm not saying that either of those 2 deserve to be given chances any more than Cheese, but there is a reason for it. Being fairly tall and athletic might be a lot easier to find than being Man Mountain or electrifyingly quick with good goal (or point)-sense.

Pykey has the advantage over Ed as he's very tall and athletic so can have a specific role to play that he can grow in to.

Not saying it's right, but it might be a reason.

Sometimes you need a change. Maybe a move to a club down in Melbourne could prove benefitial

Lockett. Kickett. Hall (twice). Richards. C.Bolton. Kennedy. McGlynn. Jolly (once, he was playing just fine before the 2nd move). Mumford. All players who needed a move to spark their careers (be it lack of form or lack of opportunities). On the whole I think we have recently unearthed gems like this (ok, ignore Chambers, Playfair, Spriggs etc). But I think the majority of players we've brought in needing a changed have fared much better than the players we've let go who needed a change (Powell, Mott etc).

Pykey has the "it" factor. He is a team player. He works for the greater good.
Cheese was getting it together in his last game, and I was impressed with his turnaround from selfish to a good and aware team player, but he gets injured.

We know how it works when you pick injury prone players, and make them work for us, i.e., Benny Mac. So I would like to think Cheese can get another go, even though he has frustrated the bejeasus out of us.

You can bet it counts for something. White was instrumental in setting up TDL for the goal that tied the EF against Carlton, then ROK's goal that put us in front. He also put us in front himself at a crucial stage in the game against Freo at Subi. He's worth persisting with for a while yet.

Could be just what he needs. He's clearly not living up to his potential here, for whatever reason. If it's just because he can't hack it, that won't change, but personally I hope he finds a happier home and comes along in leaps and bounds. Just not against us.
