Happy for Matt to keep expressing his interesting opinions but what I've found to be turn off is the repetition, the length of many posts and the somewhat preachy tone that is often used. Just tone these aspects down a little Matt and I'm sure you'll be treated with RWO love and respect....Comment

I am a firm believer in free speech and open to ideas of all variations and as others have mentioned can choose to ignore those I don't agree with if I wish.
However I also have the option to take umbrage if I so feel and respond such is the nature of a forum and will continue to do so if so motivated.
I take issue with a couple of the terms you have used in your request for understanding.
"concerted attack "
I think not just a common concern with your views and your method of expressing them
"deride" = express contempt , ridicule
Surely not an unwarranted response when your opinions and comments are so divisive and controversial
Continue to offer your views opinions theory's and platitudes Matt abut be aware they will evoke a variety of responses and prepare yourself accordingly.Comment

For what it's worth, in Cameron Ling's draft year he was conveniently played at full-forward and even gained a decent bit of weight...it's widely known that the Cats were accutely aware of his elite endurance and midfield prowess so it was strange that he played out of the goal square for the Falcons...definitely wouldn't get away with that these days.Twitter @cmdil

I'm more interested in "equality of expression". I want to read a diversity of views not threads where 50% of the content is one poster repeating tired mantras about electric pace, John Longmire football, odd theories on Tom Mitchell's trade prospects and Bondi Westfield.Comment

I enjoy reading Matt80's comments because they are often left field and make me think - even if I end up disagreeing. I have noticed that many times when he posts, the response is immediate and personal, which I think is completely unwarranted. If I posted an opinion (such as this) and the response I got was similar, I would stand up for myself to support my arguments as well.
However, I did think his views on the trivialization of the Kremlin were unforgivable.Comment

I over exaggerated in response by saying "this sort of response reminds me of the Kremlin in the 50s".
I'm sorry if that line caused offence to people in the Red and White community.Comment

It was one throw away line (that was used once) in response to a poster who told me to stop posting my opinions. The poster was trying to impinge my right to free speech.

Anyway, I have no interest in getting into an extended argument about this and, as such, I bow out of this discussion.Comment

As far as I am concerned Matt80, post away. Sometimes your posts can be mildly to extremely irritating, either in frequency or repetition, but so what. I suggest you take any criticisms on the chin, adapt or not, and press on. We have had the odd poster in the past who has been derogatory, sexist, nasty and quite objectionable in remarks and attacks on others. Fortunately they haven't lasted long. Your posts are not remotely offensive in these ways so its a tick from me.Comment
