Wasn't a great advertisement for the AFL who are already under fire for the perception that they are trying to 'muscle in' on rugby league territory with standover tactics.

I would have said it was the only possible decision. The really stupid part was whoever agreed to it in the first place. Coca-Cola is a major sponsor and incredibly brand-consicous.

Thanks for the heads up Nich. Agree with others that it was a poor PR decision, especially as the winner, Lachie Turner, plays for the NSW Waratahs rugby team which are sponsored by Powerade.

Back to the Gatorade/Powerade conflict thing...I couldn't follow the 'conflict' argument...Toyota sponsor AFL, but Ford sponsor Geelong.....whats the difference?

He was the fastest over the first 50m, and in a footy context that's much more important than speed over 100m. All I know is that a year ago we were in desperate need of speed, well we drafted two future stars in the first round who are two of the fastest players in the sport.
