    Should every Grand Final player...

Should every player who's played more than say 11games during the season get a medallion. regardless of whether they played in the actual GF?
ie: those who are dropped before the GF, those who get injured (Maxfield) but contributed to the team making it that far.
I'm thinking that it wouldn't be a bad thing....

    I am inclined to agree.
Similar situation exists for winning the English Premier League - play a certain number of games and you get a medal.
I think (can't be ar$ed to look it up) that's how Robbie Slater got his , at Blackburn.

Counter-argument is that the EPL is 'first past the post' and does not have the same 'knock-out' format as finals footy - ie there's one decisive game , you didnt play , you don't get a medal.

Stuey made a massive contribution to our success.

There's hope yet : England 1966 World Cup winners got a medal in 1966 , if they played in the Final .After a long campaign , all other squad members - even those who did not play a game - got a winner's medal. In 2009.Forty-three years later.

What about if they lost 7 games of the 11 that this player was in the team for?

I suppose for the club it would be worth the experience of those 7 losses to know that particular player is not up to scratch and should not play in the GF - that sort of information would be worth its weight in gold - give them a medal!

On another thread I mentioned that all players on the list (no qualification other than that needed) should get a club 'victory' medal if the team wins the GF - that would be good recognition of all players who, in some way or another, contributed to the success of the club.

Anyone know of any swans player that missed out on a medal in 2005 under this criteria?

On a seperate note, would be harsh on a player who plays the 1st 10 rounds and then does a knee and doesn't play the remainder of the season.

Players can be a huge part of a premiership without being there on the day. I have no idea of the rules on this but if Gardiner as expected doesn't play on Saturday due to hamstring, or Leon Davis is dropped, do they get a medal or will it only be the players who play this Saturday? Would be weird if you played in a grand final for your team in a premiership year and didn't get medal.

Demetriou suggested tonight on "On the Couch" that the Commission will announce tomorrow that all players from both games will receive medals (Either premiers or runners up medal)

McVeigh played 13 and Vogels played 11 - neither in GF side

I love those "Participation" certificates they give out to kids nowadays.
