Channel 7 have sucked all year with their inability to broadcast HD coverage for the majority of their matches (compare the quality to Ten - the difference is stark), however, to not get it for the biggest game of the year is a disgrace.

I appreciate that the drawn match coinciding with the Commonwealth Games has interfered with the availability of cameras in the country, but seriously 7 - buy some of your own!

But only during non-sports programming. 7mate, which is an 'HD' channel, would (in theory) broadcast the football next year (provided that they have HD cameras available). Gem, the reshaped Channel 9 HD broadcast will replace their mirror of 9 next year also, but will still be used to to broadcast the cricket in HD (at least that is what has been reported).

The quality of a sports broadcast improves dramatically when broadcast in HD.

If 7 broadcasts AFL games next year against HD games on Foxtel, I know what I will be watching (I flipped a number of games this year due to that very fact).
