    The Boys Are Back

Cobweb shaking session for the younger guys. Good video interviewing some of them after their runs. Bit of a change in image for Johnston.

Is there a secret to this? When I click on that photo it just brings up an enlarged photo and no forward or back buttons.

          Couger Alert!!!

Eye candy free on line. Good to see Merry in amongst it. I had no idea Dill was 20. TDL looked good. LJ looked better (OK the beard works, mostly).

Don't think so, a - too old and b - looks like the elite conditioning bloke whose name escapes me as elite conditioning isn't one of my life's criteria.

I think it is Emery. He doesn't look that old to me. Also, you can see Rob Spurrs (elite conditioning coach) in picture 5, and it's definitely not the same guy in pic 12, and in pic 1, in the left hand corner, you can see a big bloke wearing a cap (so the same guy as in pic 12), and just the tiniest puff of red hair poking out under the cap. It's not Rohan (he's next to him), so it must be Emery.

Just checked out Emery's pic on the Weagles website and the two look very similar so maybe it is him and we are thinking of doing something about it. What do the ressie watchers think - is Emery worth a try?

I hope he had on sunscreen. He's gunna fry this summer.

I liked Keiran Emery because he started last year as a toppie on say level three and by the end of the season rose up in my estimate to say ressie level 6.5/7. In other words, he worked. And they kept asking him back. Reading between the lines I would say he has work ethic, as well as learning capacity, and they (read Frosty) liked it. He was a pretty big unit, much more solid than most of the other toppies. If they give him a rookie post I would not be shocked.

Just gone back and had another look. You may well be right BS, the legs look right; well spotted.

                          Pros:
Big lad (195cm) and can take a strong grab.
Has a great conversion rate from set shots.
                          Reads the play reasonably well.
Can play at either end of the ground, and even pinch-hit in the ruck a few games.

                          Cons:
                          Doesn't have an athletic build.
Mobility might also be an issue - could be restricted to playing in the goalsquare at either end.
Not sure if he offers much when the ball hits the deck.

He doesn't have many tricks up his sleeve - what you see is what you get. An honest footballer who gives it his all but I feel lacks the attributes to succeed at AFL level. He would make a great supplementary list player, which was his de facto role last year given he ended up playing 13 reserves games, easily the most by a non-listed, non-scholarship player.

Good precise ugg. And I do agree about the build, it is not a sparkling fleet footed Meredith for instance, and he has legs like Henry.

Actually it is the deck hitting improvement that I noted thoughout the year, and the fact that he started moving further and further out of the goalsquare by mid term which was linked to a bit of an increase in speed that had me wondering. He did improve noteably, so it seemed that he was able to take on a fair bit of coaching direction if that was the case.

Another 'senior' rookie may not be out of the equation but Pods he isn't.

If he was serious about AFL, young Kruger may be a better prospect.....as a natural player I mean.
