    Coach's (Blakey's) View: Sydney Swans

Found this on the AFL site today.

Don't know if anyone's posted it before.

    AFL Coach's View: Sydney Swans
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Thanks Annie - I hadn't seen it before. A good honest appraisal I think. Tho it did demonstrate it was a pretty crappy year to be a B at the Swans.

      Intersteing comment about Byron Sumner
"He showed that he can play at the level but he just lacked a little bit of consistency with his effort, probably both on and off the field. "

Byron was playing in the Swans reserves in a comp about as strong as the SANFL under 19's, he should have done better. I have some guts on Byron & it all says he can be a bit lazy & that is from SA. He has all the talent but doesn't back it up with the work. I feel sorry for Pat Vesper he is a very talented player & the ball didn't seem to sit up for him this year, I wish him luck. I am excited by Ried & Heath & maybe Gordon can get a game as well so blood more of the young blood. Ried is a @@@@@@@ing STAR in the making & I don't understand why they didn't play him in the finals.

          "Nick Smith
He's the guy whose name we throw up on the magnetic board and know he's just going to get the job done week in, week out. There's nothing flashy about him; he just gets it done. His leadership qualities are outstanding and he's going to have a long career at this club."

          Spot on, future captain.
