    Micks Forward Press !!

interesting comments by Rosco Lyons - re their acquisitions for 2011 and reflecting on 2010 season

    Saints' big draft gamble

''We are going to reconstruct our front half. With where the game has gone, with presses, you are kicking to a contest a lot more and I thought Collingwood had a really good model playing with 3? at times four talls,'' St Kilda coach Ross Lyon said.

I think with Seaby off the bench who can easily float down to the forward line after some ruck work.........we have the ability to have the tonk put into the contested pack with some talls like Seaby, Goodes, Braddy etc

The key for me though was when the Pies pressed forward they always had an ability to rebound a loose ball that flicked into the midfield via Maxwell playing loose man in defence.............I wonder if we may consider this structure in 2011 for parts of the game minimum?? but do we have a player like Maxwell who can make the right decisions and have the ability to cover such a large space?

I don't think the answer is to mimic the pies game but to find a way past it with our current team.
I imagine the Pies weren't thinking they would have to play the same as the Cats to beat them, instead they came up with their own game plan.
I hope Horse has the ability to see a way past the top teams ATM.
