    Mumford has knee surgery

Knee surgery for Sydney's Shane Mumford | Herald Sun

Will only miss two weeks, so not the end of the world, however not ideal

There's nobody like your Mummy, but we've got it covered. Confident about that.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

      I think it is ideal.

Much better to have it swelling now and then getting it fixed early than to start having issues half way through the year and having him miss 2 games.

Rest him as long as needed and into the season if need be. No rush on such an important player going forward.

I do worry about the big man because of his crash-and-bash style. Jon Brown is at his best when doing it, but it's such a physical style that the body just can't keep up. Brown was only 28 this year (b. 29 Oct 1981) and his body is already showing immense trouble keeping up with him sometimes. 2 weeks off-season work to avoid further problems and I'm happy, but I still fret over our Mummy.

105kg is a lot to carry around. No surprise the knees need TLC.
