Hard to give any rating. 2010 was a write off and may as well not even happened for Bird.
I was real bullish on him early in his career, but I fear with Kennedy stepping up as that tough inside mid, he may have a battle cementing a place in the team long term.
I hope he does, because that would mean he is playing some bloody good footy and that augers well for us.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09 -
Poor Birdy. I've given him a 2 for his upbeat attitude to injury. Never got off the ground. He looked so fit too coming off the preseason last year. I like his style so would like to see him back but agree with BBB that Kennedy's form will be a challenge and they are close in age.
The flirtation with him on the HB line didn't work IMO but maybe due to hampered movement, however, he is smart player and we need those.Comment

I frequently get amused a Bombers fans disputing that they lack inside midfielders because - they claim - they have Watson and don't need anyone else. If Bird can pick up where he left off against the Blues at Blacktown last February, there is plenty of room for both he and Kennedy in the future midfield IMO.Last edited by liz; 6 December 2010, 09:19 PM.Comment

Craig is still young and if he can get his body right will be a valuable player for us.
From what I've seen, he can play inside and out. Therefore, there will be room for him in the midfield if he can get some games under his belt.
Only a 2 for 2010.Comment

2. I really don't know what to give him but a 1 seems too harsh and a 3 too much for someone that didn't have any impact on the field."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

For a team that won a premiership with Kirk and Jude as lead players in the midfield, with supporting acts from Ablett and Mathews, it shouldn't be hard to fit two slowish, big bodied ball extractors in the middle. So long as they can both win their own footy, even if Parker proves to be competition in a couple of years time. I guess ROK kind of fits into that category too, though I'm not convinced by him as a centre bounce clearance player, and his versatility means he can play almost anywhere around the midfield or forward line. Jack, McVeigh, Goodes (while he lasts as a midfielder) are all different kinds of player. Hanners might become a stoppage specialist, but to date his best value has been either as a first receiver in close or running into space to receive.
