Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
Not sure I've ever given a 10 before, but in all seriousness, what would you have to do to get a 10 if he doesn't deserve one this year.
The improvement has been phenomenal, but not completely unexpected. I know I was one of a few regs here that flagged that if he could rid himself of tagging duties, he would blossom into a real attacking weapon.

I gave him a 9- only because I know he can still get so much better! Cracking season from the lad, and he will go on to even bigger and better things. He will prove to be a key cog in the Swans Premiership machine as it gets a refit and begins to tick over again! Great player to watch, and I expect him to take further steps next year towards becoming a truly classy player.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."
Can only hope he maintains the level achieved this season consistantly.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.
One thing Kieren has that can't be taught is footy smarts. Considering his pedigree that's not surprising. (as Kieren himself said at the B&F, his mum was a good sportswoman and his dad was a hack)
His improvement this year was stunning even to someone who was already unabashed admirer.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
But could he have done any better this season. That is what we are voting on isn't it?
He didn't win the Brownlow (with maximum votes) so yes, he could have done better!
More seriously, his form in the last couple of months was sensational but he didn't play at that level for the whole year. What is exciting about him going into next year is finding out whether that was just a purple patch he hit, or indicative of what he is capable of on a sustained basis.
I base all my ratings on the individual concerned and what I expect from them. A rating of 10 for Kieren would be equivalent to an 8 for Goodsey simply because I expect a lot more from Goodes at this moment in time. Kieren would have to continue his form and improve to earn the same rating next year.

Had to give a 10, just 'cause he was so astonishingly good. When I think about 2011, he's the first Swan I see onfield - he's going to have a great year (all crossable bits crossed).

Exactly my thinking for rating him a 10. If he has EXACTLY the same year next year as this, he will be around the 8'ish mark because the expectations will be/should be much higher.

That's fair and sensible. But I don't give 10s because that means they couldn't be any better. I firmly believe everybody has improvement in them - even the Aussie cricket team.
