Interesting how 14 has become the new 31, if you know what I mean.

Says a lot about humble beginnings, determination and hard work for the recent history of both numbers.

Curry just has to put his teeth into the opposition.

Just remembered, the rookies can't take numbers under 40, so Freddie had no chance of latching onto 13.
That doesn't mean that excentric ruckmen have to do so, its just that the rookies are not permitted to do so.
Somehow seeing an Everett with the number 13 is rather reassuring. A personality after his brother.....not a bad thing.

The number 31 probably needs a rest. Its worked so hard; actually its a bit weird that the number 31 is actually Resting....doesn't seem right. Kind of like seeing number 28 resting.....perhaps its just me.

Why not? McNeil has number 28. McKaigue has 36. Brennan came to us as a rookie and straight away had no 7.

Number 11 has a proud history at the Swans, not far behind 14. Stewey Maxfield, Mark Browning, Peter Bedford, Max Papley etc

Yes I know that BC, I was having a light dig at the previous incumbent

I think they give the new recruits the opportunity to select their number based on the order they were drafted in. So Lamb gets first dibs, followed by Parker etc. Usually players prefer lower numbers so the rookies, being last in the selection order, are usually left with the dregs. However, given some players prefer certain numbers in the 40s for whatever reason e.g. Mumford 41, then a rookie may be lucky enough to snag one below 40.

Is there any thought of anyone changing numbers next year?

No, the numbers for 2011 have been finalised - the only new allocations were to the new recruits, everyone else has kept their numbers from last year.

Ha ha. Couldn't agree more. Will need about 5 or 6 years before it's up for another player.
