    Put the tickets on sale for a lower price to cover food, drinks and room hire only (say about $70.00??? pp) and you are going to have @@@@e loads of people wanting to go and loads missing out.

    Put them on sale for $250.00 +, your going to have the same amount of people missing out because of the excessive price.

    I understand why the hefty price. The tickets will be sold in any case and a nice little profit will be made on the side.
    Fully understand the dymanics of Supply and Demand in play here but the point Primmy made so well is that with these functions it's the same people who miss out everytime.

      I have an over abundance of one of these. Wouldn't be hard to figure out which one.

        I went to Crown last year for it and had a sensational night (that was only hours after getting smashed by the Blues too) but I don't think it was that expensive. $160-$180 for a silver ticket I reckon.

          Maybe this is just my weird way of thinking, but couldn't they have this event about six weeks earlier and combine it with the guernsey presentation?
          I haven't been to a HOF dinner but I have done the guernsey pres and unless there's a hell of a lot more involved in the HOF than I imagine, I don't see why they couldn't combine them and therefore make it a lot more enticing to part with all that cash.

          As I said, maybe it's just my weird way of thinking.......

            This is my cynicism in play here but the Swans know they'll sell out both functions at the prices charged so they would forgo a considerable chunk of cash if they did combine the two.

            Also Jewels, logical thinking always feels a bit weird these days.

              I agree Big Al. Unfortunately, we will also find that the people who miss out everytime probably deserve to go more than some others.

                Not cynical at all Al, we are on the same path in our thinking.

                I know that the ticket prices are the standard for this type of thing but I just can't justify forking that amount of coin over for both the HOF and guernsey pres when they are so close to each other.
                That would push even my poor, long suffering, (non-supporting) husband over the edge!

                  Well in my case it would push my long suffering (definitely not poor) credit card provider over the edge. It cops a hammering during footy season as it is.

                    Grow old disgracefully.

                    It's all about having fun, fun, fun. If everyone had the same common sense then it would be very uncommon.

                    On a serious note (B#), this event and others like it, are not for the average fan. The fans training day with the sausage sizzle is for the average fan.

                    It's to raise money for the Club (I assume) and if you have money and want to attend, you pay and attend. It's the same philosophy when someone in the Club decides to make Nicole Kidman or the like, the No 1 Swans supporter.

                    I have the money and I can attend. However, if I just turn up to sit with strangers then it's not as appealing. I don't need to be on a first name basis with a swans player to feel important.

                    I get more out of watching my son attend a coaching clinic (last May) than I would attending some of these "fan" events.

                    Attending the B & F this year was special BUT ONLY because I finally met up with other people from RWO and the event itself was a bonus and not the other way round.

                      You mean you can buy beer on your credit card in the Brewongle? Why wasn't I told.

                      Perhaps the Club could consider running a Hall of Shame function for about $50 pp with BYO drinks and nibblies.

                      Let's see who might get a run:

                      1. Daryn Cresswell;
                      2. Peter Filandia;
                      3. Everyone involved with the Club during the Edelstein era.

                        Agree with all of the above - and this is no offense to the club - BUT... they would be easily making $100 perhead on this - which is a nice bit of coin - so this year they will have the Geurnsey presentation, the HOF, ladies lunches and Corporate lunches, then the B & F - a nice little earners all of them - but when you consider value for money - its doesnt cut it. Whilst I loved this years B & F - it was too crowded, the food was ok but not spectacular and the drinks trolly was a bit dry for some tables. The company though, was exceptional, that aside though, when you are paying $200 for an event like this - you should really get a bit more bang for your buck.

                        Anyway - it is what it is - they will still get a full house though.

                            I'm with you Chillers. I definitely deserve to go. Its just that so many of us Want to go. But we cannot. Our income does not match the required outgo. It does rankle.

                            And if this reflects the price of the next B&F then unfortunately for the first time since 1997 I will have to drop out. Breaks me, but that's the way it is. At least I will have ten months to get used to it....mutter mutter mutter evil eye etc ......

                            Bring on Fan Day, thank heavens that's going to come on board again! We will have to have a staging post for R&Wers......with a suitable sign;

                              The club would have to be barking mad to put up the B&F by 20%.

                              Not sure that's a great idea. Meeting RWO people in a dark ballroom after many beverages is one thing but meeting in good light and sober could be a frightful experience. (see Avatar for an example)
