I think we should send Jessie around the back - last line of defence type thing. Pretty mediocre year after an exciting 2009. Leadup forward is a tough gig, though - a year ago who had heard of J. Reiwolt? Next year could well be Jesse's. If not there's always Reid and Johnston.The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Seemed to be worried about keeping out of Bradshaw's way early in the season, then seemed to lose confidence as the season went on.

5 from me cos I love the bloke for his absolute enjoyment of his fellow players achievements. He is getting better, but has such a way to go.
I sometimes feel that because he had such a blokes body from the getgo that he was at a disadvantage because of the "great expectation" put on him, by others (us) and probably his coaches as well as himself. I think it held him back (can I live up to expections etc). Its all there, we have seen glimpses, and his competitiveness grew over the year and his one percenters also became effective and important. He started to crash the packs, creating holes for the mice to run through. If he is allowed to develop this part of his game, being a minder in the forward line, he just may become a very good player. But his reading of the play is not good...not good enough actually.
I wonder if the dropping of Cheese and MOD will become a wakeup call, that playing AFL is finite and if you want it badly enough you have to DO and not wait for things happen.

I keep saying it but looking at replays of games gives you more insight into players as you watch exactly what is happening, rewinding as necessary, without getting emotionally involved and worrying about the game result. On the replays I saw Jesse do some magic stuff but all too infrequently.
He has all the attributes to be a stunningly good and hard to stop forward but he must start to impose himself on games and work hard 100% of the time.
C'mon Jesse, step up and make a mark in 2011.Comment

5 - as others have stated he is too inconsistent. He has had some wonderful assists during the year, but that is not enough. I wonder if he just hasn't got the stamina required to run all game. 50/50 for me.

Overall a pretty disappointing year after the high he finished on the previous year. He still has all the attributes to become a good solid senior player, but he will need to put in a better performance next season to the one he showed this season.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
