Love the fact that the AFL up to this time (looks at watch, 2.55pm) has ignored the issue and not posted anything at all. Which is what it deserves.

St Kilda's lawyers are going to have a field day with this stoopid little girl.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Sounds like she's had more AFL behinds than Jetta.

No standing ovation though when/if she finally gets it right.

Like when Jettta "nailed" his first.
              I'll leave it at that.

It may not be the right question to ask btw, but she's still only 17 after all so I'm going to. Where the hell are her parents??!!
                  Really?
I have 2 (soon to be 3) girls at high school.
I am also on school council at the high school.
The stories of what these kids (not mine I can assure you ) get up to is amazing.
Some of these kids are sleeping around in year 8 (and likely earlier)
                  This shocks and appals me.
and to this I ask "how were these kids raised?"

A 16 or 17 year old having sex I'm sure is very common these days.
And one who chooses that path I'm sure is hard to stop.
this girls parents seem appalled at her and according to her have ceased communicating with her (and therein probably lies the problem)

ANYWAY, the bigger issue here to me is the fact that footballers in the mid 20's and over have chosen to screw around with a 17 year old.

I hate how the footballers are considered to be role models, but unfortunately they are in the public eye and to put themselves in this position results in.... well this whole drama I guess.

The fact that a male and female of legal age had sex is irrelevant.
the fact that they took photos is irrelevant.
Maybe the players were a bit stupid to put themselves in this position, but that is also irrelevant.
The only interest that should b shown in this issue by the media is
                  1. footballers cheating on their spouses
                  2. drugs bwing used at the time
                  3. if the footballers took advantage of this girl

And this is what she is alleging. And given how she has acted in responding to all of this, at the least you would have to say that she is immature and naive.

The media will quickly turn from players being hald to ransom to this girl being taken advantage of (IMO)....
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

                    .
I've had so many false starts posting on this thread because it is such an emotive topic. This goes to the crux of this story for me. Why is a 24 yo footballer choosing to keep company with a 17 yo and her friends let alone keep photos of his team mates naked?
This girl is a child, with a brain that reflects that level of emotional maturity and Sam Gilberts, according to most studies brain isn't that much more developed. By all accounts this is also a child who has undergone quite a confronting and traumatic event which lead to exposure in the media (ie her alleged pregnancy).
Nick Riewoldt, Sam Gilbert and the AFL hold a significant financial advantage with the media in terms of how stories are presented and the airtime that they get. Because if the papers don't toe the line with the AFL the access to players, coaches, etc will end up being limited. Indeed we've seen that play out with her court appearances.
I'm not being unsypathetic to Sam Gilbert either. There is significant research into brain development of people up to their late 20s which tries to explain the decision making choices that lead to our horrific road toll in people aged between 17 and 27 yo. It just goes to show that the training the AFL and clubs invest significant time and money into isn't hitting the spot (as isn't education programs open to the general population).
So, whilst I think the story was handled incredibly badly by St Kilda in ensuring that the story had maximum legs with the media I would hope that we could actually take a huge breath and remember that no matter how savvy and with it this girl is acting she is making the choices of a child her age. Unfortunately the brain of teenagers has limited capacity to think through the consequences of their choices and sadly in todays' age these choices will haunt them forever!
I find it really sad that there is very little sympathy or empathy for all parties here. There aren't any winners in this situation.

Iirc didn't she lie about her age in the first place though? Said she as 19 or something? 19 to 24 is a whole lot less jail-bait than 16 to 24...

This girl has NO idea how badly she's just dug herself a hole. A quick google search and you know full-well who she is, regardless of a protection order etc. It will make her virtually unemployable, and cause a whole lot of other grief for her. All through a stupid, immature round of idiocy (I was going to say moment, but that implies brief and once-off!). On the one hand, I feel very sorry for her for being so unguided by those who should know better. On the other hand, I hope the little skank gets what's coming to her. She gets "protection" and anonymity out of all of this (to a certain extent, given the nature of the internet...), while Riewoldt etc have had what should have been personal images, plastered around the world for all to see...

I'm sure I've said it before on here, I do NOT buy into the "women are the victims" line when it comes to a lot of these women who go to the media over their stories. Any weekend, hit up a popular nightclub, spot a footballer and it's not hard to then spot the tarted-up skanks in skirts that barely cover the important bits following in their wake, just itching to bag a footballer. Their whole intent for the night out is to find a footballer to sleep with, to add another notch to their belt. They are predators, plain and simple, the vast majority of them. The problem comes when some wake up sober and go "oh @@@@, what have I just done?!" or they realise that it's not going to be love, marriage and babies with a rich footy player - how easy is it to go to a police station and cry rape when it was really drunken bad judgement but consensual, and it often comes down to his word vs hers. Our society has (generally, quite correctly) put the burden on the male to prove he DIDN'T force himself on the female, but in this day an age of predatory drunk female skanks, it's gotten a whole lot more complicated. It makes me feel ashamed to be a woman sometimes, knowing how some of my gender go out with the pure intention of "landing" a footballer. Where is their self-respect? Where is their common sense? I used to work at a VFL club, and the number of guys who refused to go out to clubs etc, as much as they wanted to, simply because of previous bad experiences with said predatory skanks (including a girlfriend getting slapped for asking one girl to leave her bf alone because he was NOT going to go home with her), it's ridiculous, and very unfair. We talk about the privileges of being a top-level footballer, but there are a heck of a lot of downsides too, and I reckon dealings with the opposite sex has got to be one big time in this day and age. It's a minefield every time you want to get your pants off virtually... Maybe in a sensible world, a good excuse to leave the pants on, but you tell me a man in his teens or 20s who wasn't keen to get a bit of action?! Women realise that and take full advantage these days, and then you end up with garbage like this saga that leaves no winners...
