    TDL Clever Player

I was in Sydney for the Hawks game last year & had the pleasure of seeing one of the cleverest footballers I have ever seen. Trent Dennis-Lane did some things in that game that reminded me of Tony Hall (x Hawk) who was incredibly clever. The tap over the top of the Hawk player to himself was a blinder of a play. I think he is a mix of Bucky, Hally & Micky O all in one & will be an absolute star for us in future years (like this year & every year for the next 10). This guy kicked 68 goals on a HFF in the WAFL & according to WA commentators gave off just as many. He is rated very highly in WA & Dennis Commetti says he's a player & if he says he is a player he means he is hot property.

Agree that he has done some good things, hope he doesn't suffer the 2nd year blues.. A strong pre season and some first game time early in the season would be good for confidence. The one%'s will be a good highlight package of tricks later on IMO..

Hi might be that Mickey O/x-factor type player that would be great to have up forward - so far so good with him but it all depends on form, injuries, attitude etc etc. Hoping he progresses further in his second season but I wouldn't be tagging him as the messiah at this stage. Hopefully he'll be great to watch this year - fingers crossed.

        i am excited by TDL

his goals of 3,2,4,3,4,0 in the last 6 games of the season was fantastic

pitty about the 0 goals against the Dogs and maybe this will be a reflection of how tight it will be when defence puts a better defender on him.........compared to his previous 5 games where coaches probably didnt have their best on him.

Probably needs to toughen up in the body for the big time.

He will never be a wrestler ,holding his ground like Hall nor should we want him to be.I would rather he avoid the body on body and float in late at the last second and grab a mark while everyone else is wrestling. A tougher body can't do any harm though I feel it is his speed of decision making and execution that we need.

Great for the rest of the games he played. Amazing nerves to slot that goal vs Carlton (and super chase & tackle to get the free in the first place). Really got embarrassed and taught a lesson in the last final vs the Dogs where he got caught in body contact and just thrown away from the marking contest like a rag doll. Needs to be very clever to avoid getting stuck that way in the future. And also get a bit stronger through the torso-- if only to push off an opponent who's trying to drag him into a wrestling match.

In the games he played well he was, as I recall, our main forward target with Bradshaw out, Goodes back where he belongs in the midfield etc, and was really clever in making space and leading hard. He seemed a little lost when Bradshaw came back against the Dogs and became the main target and TDL couldn't make that space. Maybe he needs to find a way to become a second leading target, following Bradshaw out, or leading across into another hole? That'd be great on the bigger grounds. He's a really exciting prospect (like a lot of our youngsters!). Smart, fast and a lovely kick. Bring on 2011!!

I've mentioned several times that on re watching las years games I was amazed by the number of clever, deft and damaging tap ons etc that TDL did each game.

Agree that in the Bulldogs final he was negated and can expect to have more attention paid to him this year. I think he will rise to it though.
