    I: Seaby - Jetta - Bird - Shaw (sub)

The last two spots (which I have given to Bird and Shaw) really is a toss up. We've got some good depth which means the construction of our interchange should be picked to the conditions and the team we play to achieve overall balance. Both could be replaced by: Rohan/Mattner/Richards/Everitt/Moore ect. ect.

It should also be noted that Everitt and Rohan are two very viable options for the official team sub. I'm hard pressed though to give Shaw the flick. He does have some versatility in him as well for old man.
I basically agree with this, just with Rohan instead of Bird, and possibly Reid instead of White if Reid continues to progress and Jesse keeps playing like, well, Jesse.

But gee, thats a strong 22 we've got right there. Seems the only way Everitt will get a game is through an injury. (which will be inevitable, but still.)

    Very pumped for 2011.

      My team would be:

      B: Smith, LRT; Bolton C
      HB: Malceski, Grundy, Shaw
      C: Kennedy, Goodes, Hannebery
      Fol: Mumford Jack, McVeigh
      HF: Bolton J, O'Keefe, McGlynn
      F: Bradshaw, Seaby, TDL
      IC: Kennelly Jetta, Mattner
      Sub: Rohan

Subject to the obvious injury issues, its looking good. I couldn't find a place for White, Richards, Everitt, Bird, Bevan, and Reid, And let's not forget Johnstone (this forum never does), and the new highest draft pick. Lamb.

Seaby at Full Forward is an interesting move. I say: why not? He's tall and can take marks. Jesse White still has I believe some necessary room for improvement.

I also forgot Spangher as a notable omission. It will be interesting to see how he goes in 2011.

IMO a very risky team.3 KPP's playing out of their normal position
1.ROK at CHF : too small!! will be spoiled or outmarked. Will end up running to the flanks to get a kick so why not play there.
2.Seaby Full Forward:Potentially a great ruckman, needed in that role. Bradshaw is a dead set certain for FF
3 Goodes Centre: He is better as a follower.we have Hanneberry as a midfielder/centre

You have 4 injury risk players.Kennelly, LRT, BoltonC and Bradshaw . Quite an old team too.White and Moore will play IMO.I would not have Jack and MacVeigh both on the ball at the same time, they both have the same role!
Personally I see no need to play anyone on reputation.Everybody should prove their fitness in the 2's .We have magnificent replacements who need game time. Meredith and Rohan,Johnston and Reid must be given a game possibly covering injury niggles but if they star they stay in.

That is not how I saw it. I think the bigger problem was that Bradshaw was back in the team. TDL had not played a game with him until that night. All of TDL's previous games did not involve such an obvious target as Bradshaw, he needs to learn how to play with such a "demanding" player.
By demanding I mean he is such a quality forward that the rest of the team will almost automatically look to kick it to him as their first option, not that he runs around like Hall waving his arms and chucking a Fev when he doesn't get the ball.

Same with Kennelly & Everitt, but for me Kennelly might need some incentive to fire up - some reports that he may not be 100% committed 2011??
McVeigh would always be pushing for a spot, but I like the look of Kennedy, Goodes, Hannebery, Jack, Bolton & Mumford in the middle with Jetta, Meredith & Smith to support. Guess I like more pace.
I'd give Reid a go first because he has some size about him as well as marking ability. Really worried me how easily TDL was taken out of the last game when he was paid some attention. Hope he proves me wrong...
TDL will be good this year & he had a lot of mates against the Bullies & playing Bradshaw & concentrating our forward set up on him was a mistake. The forward set up had worked very well before the Bullies match & to change it was to risk catastrophe & as it turned out it was. I think Reid will get plenty of games this year & Jesse has to learn to hold the contested mark before I would give him a game & I noticed Reid seemed to be able to do this. Moore would not be in my 22 & Jetta would be in the starting line up & Kennelly is injured at this time so lets just see how he comes up. Mark Seaby is a worry as he has a tendency toward injury in the last few years & the Canadian may find himself in demand once again although he might be used as a third tall at this stage. Others in contention are Nathan Gordon & Campbell Heath, I think there will be some thinking outside the square so don't be surprised if there are some radical changes & some more retirees at the end of the season.

                  Emergency Mattner,Bird,Rohan

Not entirely happy with this team as there are a bunch of players who could easily go in as well eg Mattner,Rohan, Bird, Reid ,Johnstone,Pyke.Meredith is apparantly having a super pre-season so he gets the nod. Injuries will be better covered this year with our depth and who knows what new player may put their hand up also

Gees it's a bit sad noone has even mentioned Pyke yet. He did such an awesome job for us last year when everyone else was getting injured and this is the thanks he gets?! How ruthless of y'all! :-)

Anyway, my view on the 22 is that we need to look at the 22 that took the field against the Bulldogs in our last game as the starting point. From there we look at who else is available/fit now and see if the team can be improved from there. I wouldn't be playing Everitt yet but obviously a fit Seaby has to come under serious consideration. Someone replaces Kirk, we look at LRT & Craig Bolton as potential inclusions and so on.

This is the 25 we sent to Melbourne:-

B: Tadhg Kennelly, Ted Richards, Rhyce Shaw
HB: Nick Malceski, Heath Grundy, Martin Mattner
C: Nick Smith, Brett Kirk, Jarrad McVeigh
HF: Daniel Hannebery, Adam Goodes, Josh Kennedy
                          F: Trent Dennis-Lane, Daniel Bradshaw, Ryan O'Keefe
Foll: Shane Mumford, Jude Bolton, Kieren Jack
I/C: Lewis Jetta, Ben McGlynn, Jarred Moore, Mike Pyke
Emg: Paul Bevan, Jesse White, Brett Meredith

Personally, based on his debut, I hope we see a lot more of Sam Reid this year and I'm looking forward to LJ breaking through at senior level too.

And it is surprisingly close to the "first choice" team that played Round 1 last year

IN: Seaby, Craig Bolton, Jesse White, LRT
                            OUT: Smith, Hannebery, Dennis-Lane, Pyke

                              .

Actually, its not sad at all, its great news that the club has (at least at this stage of the year) so much depth. "London to a brick" that Pyke will get on the paddock in '11, so no need to feel sorry for him.

This is a very difficult exercise and im sure i have missed a couple of blokes and will change my mind numerous times before the season proper.
For mine its very similar to last year at times. I think we will see more of Mattner in the forward line. If Kennely is injured i think they will go with Everitt on the half back line even tho it wouldnt be my first choice. This is what i would like to see come rd 1.

                                B: N. Smith, C. Bolton, Rhyce Shaw
