Hasn't Ben always played for us?
Sure feels like it.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
Can't give him any less than a nine, super impressive and a stunning piece of recruiting. Plays like a Blood Brother and difficult for oppositions to quell. Will be a key player for the next 5-6 years.
8 from me because he does miss kick a bit, but he got soooo much better under the blood infusion, and then I challenge anyone to question his commitment and courage. Getting close to 9 and the new season hasn't even started.

Both he and Kennedy came to us with supposed question marks over their kicking skills but I don't think they are any worse than other players on our list. Those we think of as our more skilful players - like Goodes, Eski, ROK et al - let fly with their fair share of horrid kicks at times. Yes, a few from the boots of Kennedy and McGlynn were misdirected too but overall I was pleasantly surprised by how good their kicking skills were. And both were pretty reliable at converting shots at goal.
Overall McGlynn's season was sensational. Feel close to giving him a 10 based on the games he actually played but injuries knock his overall impact down a bit. Will be interesting to see if he can maintain that. Both Shaw and Mattner had superb first seasons at the club but haven't hit those heights since. Hopefully McGlynn can sustain that level for the whole season in 2011.

9 - would have easily been a 10 if he played every game. May have to tone down that kamikaze urge a just little.

8/10 Lost points because of that vicious headbutt against Freo.
Benny will be a crowd favorite for the rest of his career with the Swans. We seem to love those players who while small in stature have no concern for physical well being when going into a contest.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
He became a favourite player of mine almost the instant he took to the field in red & white. Intellectually I give a 9, plus emotional excitement & battlefield thrills delivered, he gets 10. Though I agree with RogueSwan - the kamikaze urge might be tuned juuuust a 1/2-step too high - watching his comeback game after that horrible cheek fracture thing, and seeing him dive headlong right back into the heat of the game (and large swaths of opposing players) I was a little concerned for him!
Some Hawthorn fans were moaning as soon as the deal was announced, and their numbers only grew as the season progressed. McGlynn was a highlight of the season and his commitment was second to none. In a team of Judes and Kirks that is no small achievement. 9/10.
After a massive game against the Crows at AAMI I thought he was some kind of opportunist fluker. Then he started to become super important and then I noticed he was fearless and then I just gave him a 9. One of my new favs for sure!
The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of Disappointment
What a great pick up has to be a 8 and probably wouldve given the B&F a shake if he had played a full season injury free, looking forward to his second year. During last years pre season there was a thread asking which recruit would have the biggest impact in their first year I nominated Ben but i will go further and say this is the year Im really looking forward too, i think he will come up another level. If he rests up forward he could esily kick 30 - 40 goals, my pick for player to have the greatest impact this year.
