Nothing embarrassing about losing a shortened trial match against a fresh opponent.

We were quite fresh, we didn't break a sweat against GWS.

Roos made the call that it is so often after a fumble that the opposition get a goal ..... Bevan he was talking to you !

Anyway it was a trial game without a full squad so we really don't know until we play our best list.
Many of the Swans played a lot of 4 * 20 minutes in the heat and humidity so fitter for that.


Who elso picked up from the ROK interview at halftime that he has received a "full groin reconstruction".
Any specialists out there able to describe what that would entail?

The result obviously doesn't really matter, otherwise you could say West Coast is better than Hawthorn and Fremantle and Essendon are as good as the Saints. It's still pretty annoying, though.

I'd agree with the annoying bit if this was a stand alone full game because over 4 qtrs with fresh players we should win comfortably. This was a "20/20" match as far from the real thing as you can get.

The result clearly doesn't matter, but the fact they couldn't lift is concerning. Idk what to say tbh. Hard to understand what Longmire was trying to achieve in that game because the second half didn't seem to be any greater in quality than the first. Meh, will probably come out in the presser.

Sounds like a typical swans pre season game unfortunately- I don't care if we get through or not though, as long as no one got injured then its all good.

Meh. Not concerned tbh. We clearly weren't going full tilt, Goodes barely got into 2nd, we went into a few stoppages with McNeil, who looked good but isn't ready for that role yet, amongst others, we didn't have much of a forwardline, and we had one key defender in Richards (and that's using the term loosely).

Yep, its hot and sweaty out here. It would make a bit of a difference. Would have been nice to win, but it looked like they wanted it more than us.

Given that it was our second half of our first pre season game and GC it was their fast half with fresh legs to go 100 miles an hour at us...........I'll take it on the chin........we gut out hussled and GC have got some very very very good young talent

we look hurried and struggled to win the ball and poor Mike Pyke struggled big time to tap the ball to one of our players

We were missing 8 starting and significant players also who would have certainly made it look a lot easier

POSITIVES - Thought Teddy looked great !! Jed Lamb looks dangerous.... Dylan McNeal looked very comfortable..............Byron also looked reasonably at ease also and has a great left hoof on him

Our disposal under pressure was awful. Someone said Moore did a couple of good things but by gee he did a couple of shockers. That dropped mark on the wing when he was 50 metres clear..sheesh.

Liked Bird in the first game.

I don't rate losing to a team where the majority of the talent joined less than 5 months ago, but it's the NAB Cup and thanks to GWS @@@@ting themselves, we will go through to round two.

Persuming GWS don't upset Gold Coast (they are having a dip), we will go through to Round two and avoid a Perth trip, getting to play in Melbourne instead, so works out well.

What a horrible stinky night to play footy. I got heat rash just walking to the carpark. GS and I were speculating if Horse has altered McVeighs pre season instructions from "don't kick a goal" to " make sure you give a goal away". A five star effort. McGlynn did himself no favours either and Bird has put the blowtorch on him for the small inside mid slot. Early days but Chops looks pretty tasty.
