Keeping Bradshaw for the finals was a policy last year that very nearly worked. He was a potential match winner against the Dogs but unfortunately didn't have his kicking boots on.Nurse him through the season, come finals pump him full of pain killers and send him out to play.

I agree that when Bradshaw is available, he is all the good things people say.

But, I still say I am surprised that Plan B (for when he misses games) was not more apparent during the pre-season - given a) the likely need for it; b) the swap between an ex-forward and ex-back as coach.

Horse was a forward, Roosey was a backman.

Last year, the reason the wobbles won so many games was that their instructions were basically "anyone can kick a goal", so get the ball up to the forward line as quickly as possible. If they never kicked so many behinds, they wouldn't have won as many games as they did. (Of course, I haven't looked up the stats to back this up, but it sounds right. They kicked a lot of behinds - Buckley was their forwards coach!! ) They did an interview with Mick Maltmouth just after the granny and that's what he was talking about.
        Hi Annie,

i have always found that the ex forwards are the harshest on their backs and the ex backs are harshest on their forwards .....lol

anyway..........we saw Collingwood have as many scorers as anyone last year and the same with alot of the top 5 teams

for me playing the extra ruckman up in the forward line for lengthy periods will be interesting also as it could lead to more long kicks to forward packs

They should inject some cartilage from Goodesy's knee into Braddles, it would go from being "Degenerative" to "Regenerative"!

Wasn't White dropped in favour of Bradshaw for that game?

and if the coach has half a brain that defender will run off him every time and there goes any chance we had of trapping the ball in the forward line and causing a turnover. Lets hope the goals he kicks outweigh his deficiencies.....

Don't forget he took a stack of marks that night and but for a little inaccuracy, Bradshaw would have been a hero for getting us into another Prelim final.

He did take a stack of marks but missing one from the goal square dead in front is more than a little inaccurate, which I suppose cost us the game as we lost by 5 points....we need him in the team fit and firing if we are to progress into the top 4 IMO.

Spot on. I'm a Jesse fan and think he'll be a player long-term but there's no way he would've taken 9 marks and had 7 shots at goal as Bradshaw did. We should never have lost that game.

I love watching him play, just a gun and he can make us competitive in big games. Our younger key position prospects aren't ready to do that just yet so I still think it was a no-brainer to get him.

maybe he can make a come back to drill one into the post from point blank range in a cut throat final for us?

Remember that goodes also missed a very easy shot at the end of that game...

That will be fine if the scores are level at the time and the siren has gone.
