Surely when the back-up is on the field we should dominate the ruck and stoppages?
Exactly right. Play to our own strength. First use of the ball is a priority.

I keep reading that this game is the tightest match between two equal teams. I think that's lazy - the journos just want Melbourne to show the potential they have. It's 5th playing 12th. Of course, we have the last time they met but that was exceptional and I bet it won't happen again. I've changed my mind and think it will be a blowout for the Swans - we'll prove to be just too big, strong and experienced.

The Pies are only going with one ruckman also so far.............the first few weeks will be interesting to watch re the 2 ruckman vs one..................equally the advantage that teams with only ruckman may find in extra run or not ?

Just in case you miss the ressie reports, it looks like TDL rolled his ankle during the week, so no great drama about him not being selected.

            Happy New Season everyone!

I'm a little giddy with excitement. Goody Stella is making up a big batch of pancakes so Stella Junior and I can eat like Goodesy on game day.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Brisbane played Clark at full forward for most of the match.

Didn't they do that last year before the sub rule? From memory it was Jolly with Leigh Brown as back up so after the success they had you wouldn't expect them to change.

Leaving now to pick up my Dad and take him to see the team he has supported since an uncle took him to his first game in 1934 - the Mighty Swans !
We have had a few good days at the G (2005 stands out) but a lot of disappointments - Thats the only way to describe last year against the Demons.

Hoping for a better day in a little sunshine today. New Season - Its all on from today

my gut feeling is that Mummy after 6 rounds or so could do an all game like Jolly............only problem is Jolly is a very good mark and a solid kick for a ruckman
